Pedigree Boosters - Inglis Classic Sale

3 min read

In the build up to the Inglis Classic Sale at the Riverside Stables in Sydney, we will pick out three yearlings each day who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.

Today we look at a colt from one of WA's best families, a half-sister to a recent Brisbane 2-year-old winner, and a Dundeel (NZ) filly whose pedigree page got some valuable black type back in November.

Lot 56 - Pride of Dubai x Antique - Offered by Two Bays Farm

This colt is from one of best producing mares in recent Western Australian history in Antique (Metal Storm {Fr}). Not only has she produced stakes winner Broadway Belle (Redoute's Choice) and Antique Belle (Redoute's Choice), she also foaled Arcadia (Redoute's Choice), the dam of star filly Arcadia Queen (Pierro), who won the G1 Kingston Town Classic after this catalogue was released.

That victory added a Group 1 tinge to a page that already contains a myriad of black-type winners, including new additions Arcadia Prince (Pierro), a winner of the G3 AJ Scahill S., and Misty Metal (Oratorio), a dual Listed winner in January as well as Action (Pierro), who was runner-up in the recent G2 Perth Cup. Lot 64 is from the same family.

Lot 110 - Dissident x Sonnenblume - Offered by Carramar Park

This filly got a handy update on the weekend when her promising half-brother Garibaldi (I Am Invincible) won on debut at Eagle Farm. The colt is trained by Tony Gollan, and is on a path to the Sydney 2-year-old riches. He became the third winner from the dam, Sonnenblume (Exceed and Excel).

The dam is a three-quarter sister to stakes winners Shinzig (Danehill {USA) and Strada (Danehill {USA}), a family which also includes recent Sandown winner Hawkshot (Fiorente {Ire}) and South African Group winner Alfolk (Lonhro).

Lot 801 - Dundeel (NZ) x Vera's Pride - Offered by Newgate Farm

Stella Victoria (Foxwedge), a half-sister to this filly, added some black type to this family when she was victorious in the Listed Legacy Fillies and Mares Classic just after the catalogue was released. She was then stakes placed at her subsequent start.

It was a reward for their dam Vera's Pride (Youthful Legs {USA}), who had already produced two winners, but nothing at stakes level. She is the full-sister to prolific winner Malta, who was the most recent black-type performer in the family.
