Macquarie Stud has been selling at the Inglis Sydney Easter Yearling Sale for decades and they’re confident their sole offering this time around can do them the proudest.
The Wellington nursery will offer a colt, Lot 347, by I Am Invincible from a female family that has served the farm so well and has its roots in New Zealand.
“We’ve pretty much bred every horse on his page,” Macquarie General Manager David Baxter said.

“We bought the grandmother in New Zealand as a yearling and raced her with Max Lees.”
“We’ve pretty much bred every horse on his page.” – David Baxter.
Done That (NZ) (Centaine) was a NZ$285,000 New Zealand Bloodstock National Sale buy in 1996 and won three races in their colours. She is a three-quarter sister to the stakes winner Wyndam Special.
“We’ve bred every foal out of Done That and sold a few,” Baxter said. “She’s been a very good mare.”
She produced six winners, including Rainbow Styling (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) whose eight victories included the G3 Naturalism S. and his sister Midnight Special, who is the mother of the G2 Great Northern Guineas Demonetization (All Too Hard), as well as the dual stakes winner Neverland (Big Brown {USA}).
Sending Done That to the late, great Redoute’s Choice also proved a masterstroke and resulted in Zingaling.
“I don’t know that we’ve produced a better colt in the 45 years we’ve been coming here.” – David Baxter.
She was retained by Macquarie and won three races, including the G3 Birthday Card S. and the Listed PJ Bell H.
Zingaling is the mother of the I Am Invincible colt, who will go through the Inglis ring on Tuesday and there are high expectations of him.

“The mare’s been good to us and this fellow is very sharp and has been from day one,” Baxter said. “I don’t know that we’ve produced a better colt in the 45 years we’ve been coming here.
“He’s been very popular. We’ve been here a week and he’s been in and out of his box all the time. He’s typical of the family and there’s a lot of Redoute’s Choice about his head.
“Zingaling has now got a colt foal by Capitalist and she’s back in foal to Capitalist again.”

The mare has also produced the Hong Kong winner Happy Warrior (More Than Ready {USA}), a $450,000 Sydney Easter sale in 2017, and his sister Knit ‘n’ Purl. She failed to meet her reserve the previous year and, after winning four races, she is now in the Macquarie broodmare band.

“She’s got a colt foal by Exceed And Excel and she’s in foal to Russian Revolution,” Baxter said.
In 2015, Zingaling lost an All Too Hard filly and returned to him the following year with the resulting colt Botoolah going to Shadwell Stud for $200,000.
Trainer Greg Hickman purchased Zingaling’s filly by Sebring last Easter for $300,000.
