Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
On Sunday, we check out an expensive Snitzel filly on debut at Sandown, a 2-year-old out of a Group winning mare stepping out at the Sunshine Coast and a well-related filly dropping back in class at Muswellbrook.
Sandown Lakeside Race 1, 12pm AEST, Ladbrokes Info Hub Hcp, $50,000, 1200m
Tony McEvoy, who has had 18 2-year-old wins this season, gives the very well-bred filly Mount Beauty (Snitzel) her debut here having performed with merit at two recent trials. She was a $625,000 buy for her owners Glenlogan Park at last year's Easter Yearling Sale.
She is a half-sister to dual Group winner Attention (Stratum) as well as stakes-placed Flamboyant Lass (Stratum) out of Flamboyance (Snowland), the half-sister to Group 3 winner Pasikatera (Thunder Gulch {USA}), from the family of Group 1 winner Tempest Morn (Thunder Gulch {USA}).

Sunshine Coast Race 1, 12:05pm AEST, Ilandscape QTIS 2YO Mdn, $21,000, 1000m
Burden (Unencumbered) was passed in at the Melbourne Premier Sale before going through a digital sale last August, selling for $10,000 to his trainer Staurt Kendrick. After struggling through a couple of early trials, things looked to have clicked in his most recent hitout, when second at a trial at this track earlier this month.
He is out of the former high-class mare, the dual stakes winner Infinite Grace (Prince of Birds {USA}), who has produced winners from all five foals she has had to the track. Out of the family of dual G1 Cox Plate winner Fields of Omagh (Rubiton), she goes through the upcoming Great Southern Sale, in foal to Sepoy.

Muswellbrook Race 2, 12:55pm AEST, Two rivers Wines Mdn, $22,000. 1280m
Love Me Quietly (Trusting) was given a tough task on debut recently, finishing down the track in a Listed race at Scone and while this is against the older horses, it looks a much easier race.
She failed to reach her reserve when offered through the Classic Sale last year and was retained by her breeder Stuart Ramsey. Since then, her older half brother Charge (Zoustar) has won a Group 3 race while her younger half brother by Zoustar sold for $480,000 at this year's Gold Coast Magic Millions. Her dam Queen Of The Falls (General Nediym) is out of Group 3 winner Niagara Falls (Danehill {USA}), who herself is out of Group 2 winner in Bracken Bank (NZ) (Sir Tristram {Ire}).
