The online auction market continues to go from strength-to-strength with Inglis confirming that a new southern hemisphere record has been set with the sale of recent Eagle Farm winner Manaya (Hinchinbrook) for $400,000 in its July Online Sale.

The remarkable result, which saw the 6-year-old sold through New Breed Racing to Glenlogan Park, surpasses the $321,000 paid for Set Goals (Snitzel) in the June sale.

"We're very pleased with the outcome, it's a great complement to the platform," Inglis Digital’s Business Manager Nick Melmeth said. "It’s a further demonstration that it has the capacity to facilitate the sale of horses at any level and do it effectively."

"We are obviously very grateful to Michael Costa and the team and New Breed Racing for the opportunity to sell a race mare of that calibre. When you get an entry like that at a sale, it’s a great opportunity, but also a responsibility."

"We have a duty to the owners to do an excellent job and as a consequence we are delighted to get the result they wanted. To sell her at that sort of money is a great demonstration of what a strong market the online market is."

Manaya is a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Hot Danish (Nothin Leica Dane) and is a Listed winner who has won more than $345,000 for Costa in her 26 starts,

“She is a mare I know very well having followed her over a number of seasons, so I am delighted to have bought her on behalf of Glenlogan Park,” agent Steve Morley said.

“She hasn’t enjoyed much in the way of luck and we think she is capable of improving her record further, so we will race her on and breed from her in 2020.”

Trainer Michael Costa was delighted with the outcome

Costa was understandably delighted with the outcome.

“The Inglis Online platform has delivered a fantastic outcome for all associated with Manaya,” Costa said.

“We missed the traditional breeding stock sales in May and June, but the online auction gave us an opportunity to promote her in a manner that is just not possible through the private market."

“I could not be more complimentary of the process or of the work done by the team at Inglis.”

The July Sale also broke all previous records for aggregate sales with $2,681,800 paid across 235 lots.

Stakes-winning filly Kinky Boom (Spirit of Boom) sold for $150,000, the same price as broodmare Guelder (NZ) (O'Reilly {NZ}) who is in foal to Zoustar.

Due to the popularity, Inglis Digital has opted to run its online sales twice a month

The booming popularity of the online auction environment has led Inglis to now operate its online sales twice a month, with entries for the August Sale to close on Wednesday night, with the sale itself to run from Friday August 9 until Wednesday August 14.

Melmeth said the successes of the past few months should only give vendors increased confidence when selling in the online environment.

"People want to see results. People want tangible evidence that certain profiles of horses can be sold through the online platform," Melmeth said. "With the Set Goals record last month and Manaya shattering it this month, it’s exactly the sort of evidence we want to put in front of people."

"There is no reason why the platform won't continue to grow. The more good horses we sell, the more buyers will want to support it. And the more good results we get, the more vendor support we get. All around it’s a very positive result."
