Magic Millions has released the catalogue for the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale, confident it can continue to enhance the reputation its breeze-up sale has for producing quality horses.
This year's sale will be held at Magic Millions Gold Coast complex on October 14 and 15 with 269 prospects catalogued.
With recent graduates including stakes-winners Tyzone (Written Tycoon), Krone (Eurozone) and Victorem (I Am Invincible) and Singaporean stars Top Knight (Zoustar), Lim’s Lightning (Lope De Vega {Ire}) and Rocket Star (Star Witness), Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said the sale has a strong record of producing racetrack success.
“This is a 2-year-old sale with proven stakes results for buyers,” Bowditch said. “From the last seven editions of the sale 54 stakes performers have emerged.”
“The Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale produces more winners and has the best strike rate of the three breeze-up style auctions in Australasia. The reason for this is the professionalism of our vendors who are among the most experienced 2-year-old sale vendors in the region.”
Among the catalogue are four lots by Australia's Champion Second-Season Sire of last season, Zoustar, including a half-brother to stakes-winner Sylpheed (Real Saga).
There is one lot by Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible, who broke the record for most Australian stakes-winners in a season in 2018/19 and three by the leading Victorian stallion Written Tycoon.
Coolmore's Pierro is also well represented with three lots, while there are two by his barnmate, the Champion Australian stallion Fastnet Rock, including a full brother to German stakes winner Kosmische (Ire).
Australia's Champion First-Season Sire of last season, Sidestep (1), is also represented as are the two other leading freshmen from 2018/19 in Better Than Ready (2) and Deep Field (4).
There is also a wealth of horses on offer by this year's first-season sires, including Coolmore trio Vancouver, No Nay Never (Ire) and Pride of Dubai, Vinery pair Headwater and Press Statement, Darley's Exosphere and Kermadec (NZ) and several others.
Magic Millions has confirmed that 186 of the 269 lots are BOBS Eligible, 61 are nominated to the Magic Millions Race Series, 12 are nominated for the Golden Slipper, 11 for the Blue Diamond Stakes and 32 lots are QTIS Fully Paid. Some 24 lots are Super VOBIS Nominated.
Breeze-ups will take place at three different venues ahead of the sales in the lead-up to the auction, with all four sessions to be streamed live via the Magic Millions website, with videos of each hit-out available afterwards.
The first breeze-up session is at Warwick Farm (10am) on September 16 and will be followed by one at Seymour (9am) on September 20 and then Gold Coast on September 23 (9:30am).
The final breeze-up session will take place on Friday October 11 at 9:30am (AEST) at the Gold Coast with the inaugural Gold Coast International Raceday to be staged at Aquis Park on Saturday October 12.
That day will feature races sponsored by race clubs from around the world.
Sunday October 13 and Monday October 14 will be inspection days, with the sale to commence at 5pm (AEST) on the evening of October 14.
The second day of the Sale will be on Tuesday October 15, and also include the Gold Coast Spring Racehorse Sale, with entries still being taken for that sale.
Last year's Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale saw the average price soar to $74,008, while the median price also increased from $40,000 to $50,000 with the top lot reaching $320,000.
