Mica’s Pride (Bite The Bullet {USA}) has been a broodmare gem for owner Sir Owen Glenn and her latest foal is another stand-out for the mare, who has an outstanding breeding record.

The winner of three races including the G3 Research S., she has produced an elegant daughter of Newgate resident Russian Revolution at Segenhoe Stud and general manager Peter O’Brien described the youngster as picture perfect.

“The foal is one out of the box, a beautiful filly and Russian Revolution is really stamping them – his foals are all clones of each other,” he said.

Mica’s Pride’s has a 100 per cent record at stud with all 10 of her foals to race having been successful with the star of her brood Criterion (NZ) (Sebring).

Group 1 star

He won at Group 1 level in the Queen Elizabeth S., the Caulfield S., the Australian Derby and in the Rosehill Guineas.

He was also runner-up in the Cox Plate and third in the Melbourne Cup, the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup and in the Hong Kong Cup.

Criterion

Criterion’s half-brother Comin’ Through (Fastnet Rock) triumphed in the G1 Doomben Cup, their half-sister Varenna Miss (Redoute’s Choice) won the G2 QTC Cup and Silently (Anabaa) claimed the Listed James Carr S. before producing the G3 Turffontein Graham Beck S. winner Muwaary (O'Reilly {NZ}).

Mica’s Pride is a half-sister to the stakes winner Amah Rock (Fastnet Rock) and hails from the family of the G3 Bill Ritchie H. winner and multiple Group 1 placegetter Siege Of Quebec (Fastnet Rock) and his brother Bull Point, who triumphed in the G3 Manfred S. and placed at the top level before retiring to stud.

Long association

O’Brien has a lengthy association with Mica’s Pride, whose next date is with Widden Stud’s Zoustar, and said she continued to keep the best of health.

“She was with me during my time with Coolmore and then she went to Willow Park and has been here at Segenhoe for the last three years. "

“She’s a 21-year-old mare now and looks like she’s 10. She can historically throw a plain foal, but this one is full of quality.”
