Randwick, G2 Furious S., $200,000, 1200m
Race Summary:
Libertini (I Am Invincible) had little more than a working gallop to win the G2 Darley Silver Shadow S. in her 3-year-old return, but she had to work much, much harder here.
The front-runner Villami (Foxwedge) gave the hot favourite a run for her money before succumbing in the closing 50 metres.
Let It Pour (Redoute’s Choice) came from last to take 3rd off Probabeel (NZ) (Savabeel), who will get better over a longer trip.
Pedigree Notes:
A Gerry Harvey homebred and raced by him with John Singleton, Libertini is a half-sister to two winners with their dam the G1 Coolmore Classic winner Aloha (Encosta de Lago).
The dam is out of the stakes winner Tennessee Midnight (Danehill {USA}), who is a three-quarter sister to the dual Group 1 winner Malaguerra (Magnus).
It is also the family of the G1 Champagne S. winner Seabrook (Hinchinbrook) and the G2 Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic winner My Emotion (NZ) (Savabeel).
Randwick, G2 Bob Ingham Chelmsford S., $250,000, 1600m
Race Summary:
Samadoubt (Not A Single Doubt) took up his customary role at the head of affairs and he had the race in safe keeping at the top of the straight.
Rider Tim Clark slipped him more rein 300 metres from home and the 6-year-old careered away for consecutive wins following his G1 Winx S. success a fortnight ago.
Avilius (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) did well off a tough three-wide run to take second and Girl Tuesday (Street Cry {Ire}) made ground strongly for third ahead of stablemate Haripour (Shamardal {USA}).
Pedigree Notes:
Samadoubt is a son of Isadora (Gold Fever {USA}) and is a half-brother to the South African winner and Group 3 performer Thin Red Line (Redoute’s Choice).
The dam, who has left four winners, is a half-sister to the G2 Breeders’ Plate winner Apollo Wonder (Rory’s Jester). The other stakes performer close up in the pedigree is the G2 Japan-New Zealand Trophy runner-up Orlington (Orpen {USA}).
Randwick, G2 Harvey Norman Tramway S., $200,000, 1400m
Race Summary:
Making his first appearance since his runner-up finish in the G1 Doncaster H., Dreamforce (Fastnet Rock) was presented in excellent order by trainer John Thompson.
The 6-year-old bounded to the front under Nash Rawiller and lengthened stride effortlessly in the run home for a dominant win.
Te Akau Shark (NZ) (Rip Van Winkle {Ire}) did a fine job in his Australian debut to hit the line strongly for second and take third money off the in-form mare Eckstein (I Am Invincible).
Pedigree Notes:
Dreamforce failed to meet his $250,000 reserve when offered at the 2014 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale and is raced by breeder Joy Luck.
He is out of the G1 Coolmore Classic and G1 Queensland Oaks winner Eskimo Queen (NZ) (Shinko King {Ire}).
All five of her foals to race have been successful and includes Deep Chill (Wandjina), a G3 Canonbury S. placegetter.
Randwick, G3 Concorde S., $160,000, 1000m
Race Summary:
Redzel is the champion son of Snitzel who bounced right back to his best leading from pillar to post to claim his 3rd successive G3 Concorde S. at Randwick.
Redzel managed to lead at a solid speed and still proved too strong at the end of 1000 metres for the fast finishing Pierata (Pierro) and Graff (Star Witness).
Redzel's jockey, Kerrin McEvoy said; “It’s great to see him back. He had his doubters after last prep but it is great to see him come back and do it first up. He’s making that little race his own, that’s his third one, it was a pleasing effort there today.”
The Triple Crown owned gelding will now work toward making it three Everest victories in the $14 million race to be held at Randwick on October 19.
Pedigree Notes:
The 7-year-old gelding is a son of three time Australian champion sire Snitzel who took his career prizemoney to $15,644,000 and race record to 34 starts, 15 wins, 8 seconds and 1 third.
His dam Millrich by Rubiton was the winner of 3 races in total and had one stakes success as a 2-year-old in the G3 Sweet Embrace S. She went on to finish 3rd in the G1 Golden Slipper S. behind champion Australian racehorses Flying Spur and Octagonal.
