Cranbourne, $400,000, Listed TAB Cranbourne Cup, 2025m
Race Summary:
Imported stayer Dr Drill (GB) (Dansili {GB}) has claimed his first stakes success with ease, winning the $400,000 Listed Cranbourne Cup.
Given a perfect ride from Craig Williams, the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace 5-year-old unleashed a strong burst at the top of the straight, to easily defeat Naivasha (Starcraft {NZ}) by 1.75l, with Captain Cook (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) 0.2l back in third.
He is now a winner of six of his 19 starts, including four of his ten starts since arriving in Australia, and has now earned nearly $560,000 in prizemoney. He was purchased for £85,000 out of the 2018 Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale.
Maher indicated after the race that Dr Drill would likely head towards the Listed Ballarat Cup.
