Quackerjack way to go
Randwick, G2 Quincy Seltzer Villiers S., $250,000, 1600m
Quackerjack (Not A Single Doubt) has been in excellent touch this preparation and following a resuming third on the track he was successful in the Goulburn Cup.
The chestnut then tackled the inaugural $1 million The Gong at Kembla Grange and he performed particularly well off a wide run to take third money. He’s drawn awkwardly again, but with reasonable luck he should be right in this.
Quackerjack
Kris Lees has a decent hand with El Dorado Dreaming (Ilovethiscity) and Invincible Gem (I Am Invincible). The former made good ground for fifth at Kembla and this track will suit her better, while Invincible Gem has improved with each run this time in and third-up should strip at peak.
Ranier (Lonhro) is genuine and got a deserved last-start win in the G3 Festival S. to put him firmly in the picture and Live And Free (NZ) (Savabeel) made ground along the fence to finish runner-up in the Festival, indicating a win is close.
The extra distance will help the cause of Siren’s Fury (Myboycharlie {Ire}) and there’s no knock on the form of Gold Fields (Churchill Downs), either who is shooting for a hat-trick of wins.
Sambro (Fastnet Rock) was out of the money first-up, but should improve sharply and has appeal at odds, and Aqua d’Ivina (Pierro) is in winning form and therefore in the right shape to cope with a rise in class.
Stablemates make strong appeal
Randwick, Listed Fugen Construction Razor Sharp H., $140,000, 1200m
Glenall (Redoute’s Choice) kicked off his summer with a win on the Kensington track and a last-start second in the Listed Starlight S. showed he’s ready to pick off another victory. Stablemate First Hand (Star Witness) is fresh and is a two-time winner off a break.
Glenall
Multaja (Medaglia d’Oro {USA}) has been freshened since last racing and has had a trial to keep her up to the mark and Passage Of Time (Northern Meteor) was a handy sixth resuming and has won second-up in the past.
Spending To Win (Snitzel) posted an overdue win last time out and he’s sure to have taken confidence from that while barn-mate Signore Fox (Exceed And Excel) is back from a solid effort at Doomben for fifth. This is his pet distance and he’s drawn well enough to appeal on an each way basis.
Stay with Alward
Randwick, Listed Christmas Cup, $140,000, 2400m
Alward (Ire) (Aqlaam {GB}) is shooting for a hat-trick here and it looks well within his capability in what isn’t a strong line-up. He won at Doomben before a strong effort to score at Rosehill and he’s sure to take a power of beating.
Alward (Ire)
Miss Moana (NZ) (Uncle Mo {USA}) has deep reserves of stamina and was a distance winner at her most recent appearance. Emperor’s Way (Roman Emperor {NZ}) is finding it hard to win, but in this field he’s a solid place hope.
Very much the same applies to Naval Warfare (Ire) (Born To Sea {Ire}) and High Bridge (GB) (Monsun {Ger}) was a handy fifth last time out in his first appearance for four months so it’s reasonable to assume he’ll improve enough to be more competitive this time.
Favourite hard to hold out
Eagle Farm, Listed Pages Gold Edition Plate, $200,000, 1200m
All eyes will be on the resuming Alligator Blood (All Too Hard), who makes his first appearance since finishing second in the G1 Caulfield Guineas. Since returning to work, he impressed trainer David Vandyke with his effort to win at the trials and it will be a surprise if he doesn’t win here.
Alligator Blood
The Odyssey (Better Than Ready) is a speedy type who was a course and distance winner last month and he also has since won a trial while Le Palmier (Spirit Of Boom) was an all the way last-start winner who’s drawn to give another bold showing.
Raging Pole (Better Than Ready) and Eleven Eleven (Fastnet Rock) has been sound in recent times and the talented filly Karaja (Zoffany {Ire}) was fourth when resuming in the Listed Mode Plate and expect her to be sharper for it.
Fabulous chance
Eagle Farm, Listed TAB Lough Neagh S., $125,000, 1300m
Miss Fabulass (Frankel {GB}) came from the clouds to win the Listed Tatts Classic at Doomben and the roomier track here and extra distance will surely see her go close to completing a black type double.
Miss Fabulass
Tyzone (Written Tycoon) is back from Melbourne where he performed creditably in far stronger company and he’s trialled well ahead of this. I’m A Rippa (I Am Invincible) is as capable as any, but he’s going to need luck from the gate.
Chapter And Verse (Rothesay) was an impressive last-start winner and he’s another who will appreciate the Eagle Farm lay-out. Reckless Choice (Choisir) and Constant Flight (Written Tycoon) have been racing well in lesser grades and top showings wouldn’t surprise.
Melbourne visitor fancied
Morphettville, Listed Adelaide Galvanising Christmas H., $100,000, 1200m
Lagerfeld (Denman) has been in good form in Melbourne with a couple of wins and a placing from his last four starts. He looks a strong chance to add to that in this.
Lagerfeld
Benz (Bushranger {Ire}) won the Listed Marion S. over this course and distance at his most recent appearance so his chances have to be taken seriously again and Ef Troop (Spirit Of Boom) will improve with his first-up run. He’s talented enough at best to go close.
Nipperkin (Artie Schiller {USA}) was runner-up to Benz last time so he’s in the mix in an even line-up while Aiguilette (Epaulette) has a similar profile and his track and distance statistics also points to a bold showing again.
