American Pharoah (USA) x Derelique (colt)
Lot 237 - Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale
TDN AusNZ: Why was the mare chosen to see the particular stallion?
Brad Crismale, Breeder: “American Pharoah provided a great outcross for Derelique as a Danehill Dancer line mare. Physically he really suited her on type, and as the first Triple Crown winner in 37 Years, for me as a breeder it was exciting to have access to a like him.”
TDN AusNZ: What was the foaling down like?
Niall Power, Assistant Stud Manager Coolmore: "This colt was foaled at Coolmore and came to live at Lime Country in early March. Coolmore’s feedback on the foal at birth as follows: “A quality colt with size and scope, good result, a nice type of foal. Weight: 56kg”
TDN AusNZ: What was the horse like as a weanling?
Lime Country Thoroughbreds: "This colt has been a stand out from an athleticism perspective since he arrived to us as a weanling at the beginning of March. He had bone, strength and a lovely rolling action to him."
TDN AusNZ: How is the horse handling prep so far?
Greg Griffin, Lime Country Stud Master: "Another yearling in our draft that has thrived in the prep. He’s a sensitive horse who is intelligent and very trainable, he takes everything in his stride and enjoys the routine. Definitely one of my favourite colts in the draft."
TDN AusNZ: Does he have a nickname?
Jo Griffin, Lime Country Thoroughbreds: "Many of them do but he doesn’t for some reason."
TDN AusNZ: What about particular traits/personality?
Magic Millions Barn Manager Lana Gleeson: "He has a big plastic apple toy in his box, which he manages to pick up by the tiny stem of it and he’ll bring it to you in his teeth at the box door and gently gives it you to take off him!"
