Pedigree Boosters

In the build up to the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale at Karaka, we will pick out three yearlings each day who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.

Today, we look at a son of Mongolian Khan whose profile has continued to be boosted by a Group 1 winner, a Tarzino (NZ) colt whose half-brother is now a French stakes winner and a Sacred Falls (NZ) filly with a close relation who has produced a double Group 3 strike.

Lot 171 Mongolian Khan x Permanent (Lonhro) – Offered by Highview

The pedigree features the G1 Makybe Diva S. winner Gatting (Hard Spun {USA}) and he’s also recently added runner-up finishes in the G2 Lee Steere S. and the G2 Ted Van Heemst S. to the family roll of honour.

Another close relative to this colt, whose dam is a sister to the G3 Research S. winner Trim, is the Magic Millions Wyong S. winner Diamond Thunder (Dawn Approach {Ire}), who also has two black type successes to his credit.

Lot 319 Tarzino (NZ) x Striving (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) – Offered by Mapperley Stud

This colt is a half-brother to Preening (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) who was a multiple stakes placegetter before winning the Listed Prix Miss Satamixa at Deauville and his brother More Than This (GB) has won in Hong Kong since the catalogue went to print.

The dam Striving is well-related and is a three-quarter sister to the G1 Newmarket Cheveley Park S. winner Wannabe Grand (Ire) (Danehill {USA}) and a half-sister to the stakes winners Wannabe Better (Ire) (Duke Of Marmalade {Ire}) and Wannabe Posh (Ire) (Grand Lodge {USA}).

Lot 463 Sacred Falls (NZ) x Best Command (Court Command) – Offered by Wentwood Grange

This filly is closely related to Teleplay (Written Tycoon), who has provided significant updates with her pair of Group 3 victories in the Kevin Heffernan S. and the Jim Beam S. Another relative Cisco Bay (So You Think {NZ}) has been a city winner in Sydney.
