Caulfield, G1 Neds Blue Diamond S., $1,500,000, 1200m
Race summary :
Tagaloa (Lord Kanaloa {Jpn}) was forced to race three wide near the pace, but the colt was tough enough to still get the job done.
He hit the front with 200 metres to run and stayed on strongly to see off the late challenge of the favourite Hanseatic (Street Boss {USA}) who was into the clear soon enough to have had his chance.
The filly Personal (Fastnet Rock) drifted well back in the field and she found the line strong for third ahead of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Away Game (Snitzel).
Pedigree notes :
Tagaloa was bought out of Arrowfield Stud’s draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale draft for $300,000.
He is a son of Vasilissa (Jpn) (Heart’s Cry {Jpn}), who is in foal to The Autumn Sun, and she is a half-sister to the stakes-winner Tricolore Bleu (Jpn) (Stay Gold {Jpn}).
Their dam is the G3 Fred Darling S. winner Penkenna Princess (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and also the family of black type winners Head Over Heels (Ire) (Pursuit Of Love {GB}) and Stay Tuned (Ity).

Streets Of Avalon (Magnus) is a tough competitor and he produced the gamest of performances to win for the first time at Group 1 level.

Melody Belle (NZ) (Commands) enjoyed an ideal run near the pace and, in her resuming, run, fought on gamely for third with Wild Planet (Animal Kingdom {USA}) fourth.

Race summary:
Pippie (Written Tycoon) simply had too much pace.
With Linda Meech in the saddle, she blasted out of gate 14 and crossed the field to take a clear lead.
Meech still sat motionless in the saddle as Pippie turned for home with a commanding advantage, and Pippie kept kicking hard down the straight.
She began to tire in the last 100 metres, allowing Zoutori (Zoustar) and Crystal Dreamer (Stratum) to get close, but Pippie held on for a scintillating win.
Trained by John and Chris Meagher for owners Heran Racing Pty Ltd, Pippie has now won five of her nine starts and $571,450 in prizemoney. She was a $60,000 purchase at the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
Pippie’s only previous victory came in the G3 Cockram S., while she finished second in the G3 Furphy Sprint at Flemington.
Meech became the first female jockey to win the time-honoured sprint feature, while it was a first Group 1 victory for the father-son Meagher training team.
Pedigree notes:
Pippie was bred by Eureka Cambooya Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd.
She is by star stallion Written Tycoon, who is the sire of 510 winners from 695 runners with 32 individual black-type winners. Pippie became his eighth Group 1 winner, joining Tycoon Tara, Music Magnate (NZ), Booker, Written By, Despatch, Capitalist and (La) Luna Rossa (NZ).

Race summary:
Three weeks on from her first black-type win in the G3 Carlyon Cup, Miss Siska (So You Think {NZ}) has gone back to back.
Ridden by Damian Lane, the well-related 6-year-old landed in second as Odeon (NZ) (Zacinto {GB}) worked forward to take the lead.
Miss Siska quickened at the top of the straight and overpowered Odeon, and she found plenty all of the way down the straight to hold out the late-finishing placegetters Kings Will Dream (Ire) (Casamento {Ire}) and Mirage Dancer (GB) (Frankel {GB}).
Trained by Grahame Begg, Miss Siska has now had 26 starts for eight wins, seven placings and $714,410 in stakes. Her back-to-back stakes-wins have followed black-type placings in the G2 Matriarch S. (twice), G2 Hill S. and Listed Canberra Cup.

Race summary:
Adelaide Ace (NZ) (Savabeel) was given an easy ride in front by John Allen and they were allowed to get away with cheap mid-race sectionals.
Allen put the pressure on before the turn and the gelding was untroubled over the closing 200 metres.
Noncomformist (Rebel Raider), who had won his previous two starts, chased bravely to claim second money and the grey Legion Of Merit (NZ) (Alamosa {NZ}) came from off the pace for third.

Race summary:
He’ll Haunt Us (Time For War) hadn’t raced since he broke his maiden at the Gold Coast on Magic Millions day and he took up where he left off.
He raced in behind the pace and when a gap along the fence appeared he surged through under rider Damien Oliver.
He’ll Haunt Us nailed the front-runner Sansom (NZ) (Charm Spirit {Ire}) in the shadows of the post with Spend (Snitzel) taking third at the expense of the favourite Pandemic (Sepoy).

Race summary :
La Tene (Helmet) was given a cosy run on the fence by rider Brad Rawiller and when the gaps opened up the filly was more than willing.
Last season’s G2 VRC Sires’ Produce S. winner drove between runners to open her autumn campaign in dashing fashion.
Lady Lupino (Sebring) finished strongly from well back in the field to run second with Lunar Light (Akeed Mofeed {GB}) home for third. The favourite Acting (NZ) (Savabeel) worked hard to lead and dropped out to tail the field home.

Race summary:
There was no catching Greysful Glamour (Stratum) in Caulfield’s 1400-metre feature for mares on Saturday.
The grey 4-year-old was sent straight to the lead from barrier five by jockey Tim Clark, and she dominated the race from that point on.
Greysful Glamour kicked clear in the straight, while some of her prospective challengers got caught up in traffic trouble.
Bam’s on Fire (Universal Ruler) and Spanish Reef (Lope De Vega {Ire}) found clear air and accelerated in the last 150 metres, but Greysful Glamour was out of their reach and won by 1l. Bam’s on Fire finished second, 1.25l ahead of Spanish Reef.
Greysful Glamour is trained by Mark Newnham for a Darby Racing syndicate. She was a $90,000 purchase at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, and she has now earned $509,505 in her 22-start career.
This was her fourth win and her first at stakes-level, having previously placed in the G1 VRC Oaks and G3 Spring S. and finished fourth in the G2 Matriarch S. and Listed Fernhill H.
Pedigree notes:
Greysful Glamour was bred in Queensland by Stuart Hume, who teamed up with John Foote to buy her dam Rippled (GB) (Dalakhani {Ire}) for £15,000 at the 2012 Tattersalls December Mares Sale.
A winner over 1600 metres, Rippled is the dam of two winners from two foals to race – Greysful Glamour and her younger half-sister Celestial Falls (Hinchinbrook), who placed in the G3 Ethereal S. in the spring.
Rippled is out of a three-quarter sister to Always First (GB) (Barathea {Ire}), who won the G2 Sunset H., G3 Sycamore S. and G3 Stars & Stripes Turf H., along with placings in four other Group races.
After producing Greysful Glamour in 2015 and Celestial Falls in 2016, Rippled returned to Hinchinbrook to produce colt foals in 2017 and 2018. She had a filly by Pierro in 2019, then was served by Dundeel (NZ).
Greysful Glamour is by Stratum, who is the sire of 522 winners from 738 runners with 44 individual stakes-winners, headed by Group 1 winners Streama, Stratum Star, Takedown, Miss Wilson, Crystal Lily, Land of Plenty and Southern Lord.

Race summary:
Te Akau Racing and trainer Jamie Richards celebrated a Group 1 quinella as Avantage (Fastnet Rock) passed her first 1600-metre test with flying colours.
Winner of the G1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce S. as a 2-year-old and the G1 Telegraph over 1200 metres earlier in her 4-year-old season, the quality mare faced a new challenge on Saturday with her first attempt over the metric mile.
Ridden by Danielle Johnson, Avantage raced in midfield as the G1 Thorndon Mile winner The Mitigator (Master Of Design) assumed his usual front-running role.
While most of the field kept well away from the rail on the rain-affected ground, Johnson decided to cut the corner and Avantage burst to the lead at the top of the straight.
The sternest challenge came from stablemate Prise de Fer (NZ) (Savabeel), but Avantage ran the distance out strongly and held on by .75l. Prise De Fer was second, with The Chosen One (NZ) (Savabeel) making up ground to finish 2l away in third.
Avantage was bought for $210,000 at the 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale by Te Akau principal David Ellis. She has now had 16 starts for nine wins, four placings and more than NZ$1.3 million in prizemoney.
Pedigree notes:
Avantage was bred by Willie and Karen Calder, from Bluff at the bottom of New Zealand’s South Island.
She is one of 37 individual Group 1 winners for star stallion Fastnet Rock, alongside the likes of Atlantic Jewel, Mosheen, Shoals and Merchant Navy.
Avantage is out of Asavant (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), who won three races including the Listed Warstep S. and placed in the G1 International S.
Asavant is a half-sister to D B Pin (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}), the winner of six races including the G1 Centenary Sprint Cup in Hong Kong and a two-time runner-up in the Hong Kong Sprint.
Both horses are out of Pins ‘n’ Needles (NZ) (Pins), who won the G3 White Robe Lodge H. and placed in the G1 Thorndon Mile. She is the dam of five winners from six foals to race.
Asavant has so far been represented by two winners from three foals to race. Asathought (So You Think {NZ}) is currently still a maiden but is a black-type performer, having placed in this month’s Listed Southland Guineas.
Asavant had a filly by Vancouver in 2017 and another filly by Fastnet Rock in 2018. She returned to Fastnet Rock in 2019.
