American Pharoah (USA) x Shantha's Girl (colt)

Lot 419 - Inglis Premier Sale

Vendor: Twin Hills Stud

TDN AusNZ: Why was the mare chosen to see the particular stallion?

Olly Tait, Twin Hills: "We originally bought Shantha’s Girl to visit Bobby’s Kitten, who we were standing in our first year of operation at Twin Hills. Champagne Cuddles then ran second in the Golden Rose when she was about to be covered, so we thought that we should switch her to a more high-profile stallion. American Pharoah was such an amazing racehorse and American dirt sires have worked well in Australia (Street Cry, More Than Ready, Medaglia D’Oro), and so I was keen to send a mare to him."

TDN AusNZ: What was the foaling down like etc?

OT: "He’s been a very straight forward colt since he was born."

Lot 419 - American Pharoah (USA) x Shantha's Girl (colt)

TDN AusNZ: What was the horse like as a weanling?

OT: "He has always had great presence and and a nice temperament. He has the length and scope of his father and has always been a nice mover."

TDN AusNZ: How is the horse handling prep so far?

OT: "He’s thrived during the prep. He is an intelligent horse and is very easy to deal with. Physically, he’s come together really well."

TDN AusNZ: Does it have a nickname? Particular traits/personality?

OT: "His nickname is Shantha. We’re not particularly imaginative!"

Shalaa (Ire) x Quasera (filly)

Lot 377 - Inglis Premier Sale

Vendor: Cityview Farm

TDN AusNZ: Could you tell us a little about this yearling's breeding?

Cityview Farm Manager; Carla Aliphon: “Shalaa’s first Australian yearlings have proven popular selling well at Magic Millions and Inglis earlier this year. The fillies dam Quasera is a half-sister to multiple stakes-winner Hurried Choice who was successful as an early 2-year-old and related to Group 1 performers Lurestina, Miss Bussel and Miss Darcey."

TDN AusNZ: How is the yearling handling the sale so far?

CA: “This filly has really been the surprise packet, everyone that inspects her comments on how lovely she is. We couldn’t be happier with the interest in our yearlings and look forward to Sunday and Monday when they go through the ring. The filly sells at around 1.30pm on Monday and is available for inspections at Barn C, stables 52-54.
