Snowdens look to dominate
Canberra, G3 John McGrath Auto Black Opal S., $250,000, 1200m
The stablemates Bartley (Written Tycoon), Barbaric (I Am Invincible) and Aftermath (Spirit Of Boom) give Peter and Paul Snowden a powerful hand. The latter two are coming off confidence-boosting wins while Bartley has trialled well for his return.
Cellsabeel (Hinchinbrook) came out of the G2 Reisling S. on a veterinary call so there is a major cloud hanging over her. If she does present at her best then she will take a power of beating.
Cellsabeel
Return With Honour (Fastnet Rock) was a last-start third in the G3 Canonbury S. and he trialled impressively at Rosehill last month. He will be a major threat with Hugh Bowman in the saddle.
On The Lead (I Am Invincible) put up a good showing on debut for third and is a place hope with a touch of luck from an awkward gate.
Obligatory (Fastnet Rock) and Lady Of Luxury (Criterion {NZ}) are shaped promisingly at their first starts and with some improvement can be minor players.
Chance for Ken to Dream
Canberra, Listed Geocon National Sprint, $140,000, 1400m
It’s not the strongest black type event and that gives Ken’s Dream (Dream Ahead {USA}) a good opportunity to post a stakes win. His last two performances have had plenty of merit and he should give a bold sight.
Ken's Dream
Cuba (All Too Hard) generally needs racing to find his best form so with two runs under his belt he should be more competitive and Travancore (NZ) (Savabeel) was unsighted when resuming, but he has sound second-up statistics.
Dio D’Oro (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) and Sausedge (Shamus Award) have both been racing well in a lesser grade and appeal as a couple of good lightweight chances.
Weighted to win
Bunbury, Listed Furphy Bunbury Cup, $120,000, 2000m
The Big Show (Frost Giant {USA}) finished runner-up in the Lusted Detonator S. last time out and can go one better as he meets the winner Arctic Stream (High Chaparral {Ire}) much better off in the weights.
Wrinkly (Saxon) continues to race honestly and is a place prospect while Red Army (Patronize) should come on well with a run under his belt.
Spiritual Warrior (Blackfriars) hasn’t been out since his run for fifth in the G2 Perth Cup, but has won a trial in his lead-up while Mackenzie Brooks (Blackfriars) is up in grade. He won the Albany Cup well enough last time out to be afforded a chance.
