Pedigree Boosters – Inglis Easter Sale

In the build up to the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, we will pick out three yearlings each day who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.

Today we look at an Exceed And Excel filly with an in-form half-brother, a half-brother to a recent Group 2 winner, and a colt whose half-sister is now a 2-year-old stakes winner.

Lot 116 - Exceed And Excel x Ocean Of Tears (NZ) (Minardi {USA}) - On Account of Sledmere Stud

This filly's half-sister No More Tears (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}) had already added some black type as a Group 3 winner and the half-brother Pioneer River (Snitzel) might not be long following suit. He was a recent winner at Flemington and followed that up with a Listed placing at Moonee Valley last time out.

Recent Group 3 placegetter Invictus Salute (Exceed And Excel) is a blood sister to this filly and was recently third in a Group 3 race, while her half-brother Splintex (Snitzel) won a recent Rosehill race.

Lot 139 - So You Think (NZ) x Pontiana (Redoute's Choice) - On Account Of Coolmore Stud

As a brother to G1 Randwick Guineas winner Inference, this colt doesn't really need much more on his page, but their half-brother Dragon Leap (Pierro) helped things along a bit more with a win in the G2 Auckland Guineas before finishing fourth in the G1 NZ Derby.

The half-sister Montia (Vancouver) won impressively at a recent Moonee Valley meeting, before finishing fourth in a stakes race at her second start.

Lot 232 - More Than Ready (USA) x Sweet Sister (Snitzel) - On Account Of Milburn Creek

This colt's half-sister Supreme Idea (I Am Invincible) was an impressive all-the-way winner in the Listed Lonhro Plate at Randwick in February and has now won two of her four starts.

Adding to the currency of the pedigree are two extended family members, Cloudbreak (Fastnet Rock) and Valdostana (Snitzel), who have both won at metropolitan level of late.

It's already a strong page, given the dam, Sweet Sister is a sister to Group 1 winner Sweet Idea (Snitzel) and Group 2 winner and Arrowfield stallion Showtime.
