Anthony Freedman completed an early 2-year-old double for the week when Show Some Decorum (Starspangledbanner) won at the first time of asking at Sale.

The Mornington trainer had struck with Soul Obsession (I Am Invincible) on his home track on Sunday and then produced impressive debut winner Charm School (Redoute’s Choice) at Ladbrokes Park on Easter Monday. That victory boosted confidence levels around Show Some Decorum.

“He’s a nice horse that had done everything right at the trials so far. His trial the other day was very good and the form was franked when the horse (Malicorne) that ran second to Charm School on Monday in town had run second to him in the trial,” Freedman’s Racing Manager Brad Taylor said.

Show Some Decorum mustered gate speed from the inside barrier to lead under Jye McNeil and surged clear in the straight to beat the experienced Marchena (Deep Field) by 2.5l and a more emphatic performance than was expected.

“We didn’t think he’d be as dominant as that. We knew he would do everything right and put himself on speed, which is a great aid in these 2-year-old races,” Taylor said.

While Charm School was bought out of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $480,000, Show Some Decorum was from the lower end of the price scale. Freedman and Blue Sky Bloodstock secured him for $40,000 from Princess Park Thoroughbred Farm’s draft.

“On pedigree, he’s bred to get over further as he’s out of a Galileo mare so he’s only going to get better with a bit more time. The owners are going to have a lot of fun, especially as a 3-year-old,” Taylor said.
