Dynamic Dalasan
Morphettville, G1 TAB South Australian Derby, $400,000, 2500m
Dalasan (Dalakhani {Ire}) has been immaculate in his lead-up racing with commanding wins in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas and the G3 Chairman’s S. He is into unfamiliar territory as far as distance goes, but couldn’t be in better form to step up.
By contrast, the trip is the least of worries for Warning (Declaration Of War {USA}). The G1 VRC Derby winner has an impressive depth of stamina and he is obviously a major contender.
Warning
Russian Camelot (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) has been the subject of high expectations since he began his career. His last win was outstanding, irrelevant of the merits of the opposition, and the only question mark is a missed lead-up run due to an inflamed throat.
Themoonlitegambler (Good Journey {USA}) has been a model of consistency and has placed behind Dalasan in his last two appearances. He made the running in the Chairman’s and fought on gallantly and could be better served taking a sit over this distance.
Saint Eustace (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}) and Miyake (Deep Impact {Jpn}) are progressive types with place prospects at worst and Moonlight Maid (Puissance De Lune {Ire}) might be the best of the fillies. She was a grave second in the G1 Australian Oaks and will relish this trip.
Filly in top form
Morphettville, G3 TAB SA Sires’ Produce S., $120,000, 1400m
Ecumenical (Zebedee {GB}) has been in outstanding touch with consecutive stakes victories and the way she ran out 1200 metres to win last time out suggested she will be even better-suited to this trip.
Crown Mint (Hallowed Crown) finished runner-up to the filly at their last meeting so he has obvious prospects and the breeding to go further. The Last Charge (Late Charge) will appreciate the weight relief following a smart win under 60.5kg at Bendigo.
Ringbolt (Dream Ahead {USA}) and stablemates Violinist (Fastnet Rock) and Vancouver Velvet (Vancouver) all showed enough on debut to indicate they can be in for a share of the minor prizes.
Bribery (Spirit Of Boom) has all the race experience, but would need to find a few lengths on her latest effort and a better chance might be Indictment (Street Boss {USA}), who finished well for third in the Listed Anzac Day S. at Flemington behind the highly-regarded Flying Award (Shamus Award).
Got the game
Morphettville, Listed Adelaide Galvanising Adelaide Guineas, $100,000, 1600m
Game Keeper (Fastnet Rock) is a progressive type and with consecutive wins to his credit he comes here at the top of his game. He has found the line strongly over shorter trips so a mile shouldn’t pose any problems.
Yourdeel (NZ) (Dundeel {NZ}) has yet to show the form that won him dual Group 1 honours last season and he’s going to get few better chances to show he’s still got what it takes. He may be worth giving another chance to in this line-up.
Yourdeel (NZ)
Kooweerup (More Than Ready {USA}) was strong to the line last time out and an extra 200 metres will suit while Quantum Mechanic (Deep Field) won well enough at her most recent appearance to warrant support.
In an open line-up, Really Discreet (Helmet) was a sound second in the Listed Nitschke S. and a definite threat on that performance as is barnmate Done By Me (Bon Hoffa), who was third in that event.
Stay with Kementari
Doomben, G3 TAB BRC Sprint, $125,000, 1200m
Kementari (Lonhro) has been sound in both of his runs back, finishing third in each of the G3 Star Kingdom S. and the G3 Hall Mark S. With those two runs under his belt, she should strip at the very top of his game.
Victorem (I Am Invincible) might be vulnerable first-up, but he’s trialled very well and historically hits form early in his campaigns. Likewise, Outback Barbie (Spirit Of Boom) is also a noted fresh performer and she has a special affinity with Doomben where she has won three times already.
Kementari
Her stablemate Vega One (Lope De Vega {Ire}) is talented, but he will need plenty of luck from the outside gate. Tyzone (Written Tycoon) was fair at Randwick off a break and has winning second-up form.
Deep Image (Testa Rossa) is another back from Sydney and might be more competitive here while Tambo’s Mate (Mossman) is racing well and has a handy pull in the weights. Bandipur (Commands) is another consistent type with place claims.
Trainer’s top hand
Doomben, Listed Sky Racing Doomben Guineas, $85,000, 1615m
Trainer Chris Anderson looks to have a stranglehold on this race with the last-start winners Profit (Dundeel {NZ}) and Ballistic Boy (Smart Missile). There may be little between the pair, but the former is better-suited by the race conditions than his rivals.
Vanna Girl (Husson {Arg}) is in hot form and will drop 5kg on her most recent winning run while Smart Meteor (Smart Missile) is genuine and as a past 2000 metre winner on the course he will appreciate a truly-run race more than most.
Don’t Waiver (Not A Single Doubt) fills a similar profile and Joliette (NZ) (Charm Spirit {Ire}) has won her last three so obviously deserves a shot at black type. Supergiant (NZ) (Red Giant {USA}) bolted up last time in a weaker race and is untapped and can’t be under-estimated.
Glamorous chance
Randwick, Listed Luux Properties Gosford Gold Cup, $200,000, 2000m
Greysful Glamour (Stratum) is in solid form and was a close second in the G3 JRA Plate last time out over this course and distance. She loves to bowl along in front and, if left alone, should prove a handful.
Greysful Glamour
House Of Cartier (Alamosa {NZ}) won the Listed Wagga Cup in fine style and any more rain would boost her chances while The Lord Mayor (NZ) (Rock ‘N’ Pop) has upset claims. He was unplaced resuming, but has won second-up in the past.
Another Dollar (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}) hasn’t won for a while, but her latest effort for third was a sign of better things to come. On his best form, Best Of Days (GB) (Azamour {Ire}) would take some beating and his most recent effort suggested he’s still got something to offer.
Follow the form
Randwick, Listed Debortoli Wines Takeover Target S., $120,000, 1200m
Greyworm (Master Of Design) owns a tidy record and further enhanced with his recent victory in the G3 Hall Mark S. He won with something in hand and this looks an easier assignment for the 5-year-old.
Tactical Advantage (Bel Esprit) is used to carrying big weights and will be a threat despite the 60kg while Deprive (Denman) was unplaced last time and a better guide might be his sound fourth in the G1 The Galaxy.
Redouble (Redoute’s Choice) is resuming and with first-up winning form to his credit is worth consideration and Snitz (Snitzel) is jumping in class, but as the winner of his last three starts he is in the right form to face the challenge and drops 5kg on his latest outing.
