With an abundance of elite level performance, a rich pedigree and the looks to round out the package, Sunlight is sure to attract interest from all points of the thoroughbred world when she is offered at the Gold Coast sale.
In the current COVID-19 times, even uncertainty around Queensland border controls have done nothing to dampen Magic Millions delight at the opportunity to add Sunlight to a catalogue to savour.
“We are intending, and we’ve got every confidence, that we will be live and will have our clients here in July. Otherwise, we have the technology to hold a sale in any way, shape or form,” said Managing Director Barry Bowditch.
Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said this week there was only a slim chance the border could reopen in July, saying even a September reopening remained optimistic.
However, the Magic Millions online platform gives the company the ability to successfully cope with any outcome and Sunline’s presence in the catalogue will garner universal interest.
Sunlight returning to scale after winning the Magic Millions 2YO Trophy
“I would suggest that Sunlight is one of the most highly-credentialled mares to go to auction in Australia for a long time. She’s a three-time Group 1 winner and a fantastic ambassador for Magic Millions as a graduate of the sale,” Bowditch said.

“She’s a Magic Millions winner, she’s taken her owners on a ride and we’ve watched her with great pride from start to finish.
“I think any farm world-wide will be delighted to own Sunlight and the expectations are that we will have engagement from some huge international players, not only in her but other mares in the sale.”
Sunlight won 11 of her 24 starts, including the G1 Coolmore Stud S., the G1 Newmarket H. and the G1 William Reid S. and retired with stake earnings of $6,575,950.
"What a great mare. As a racehorse she had it all - a great attitude, honesty, temperament - but perhaps most importantly a toughness, which you need to be successful in any walk of life,” co-trainer Tony McEvoy said.
"She had magnificent soundness which enabled us to travel her around Australia and perform at the top level. Sunlight has been a champion mare for McEvoy Mitchell Racing and has continually taken us to the pinnacle of Australian racing."

McEvoy Mitchell Racing, Aquis and Blue Sky Bloodstock signed for Sunlight for $300,000 at the Gold Coast where she was offered by Widden Stud.
A Magic Millions Racing Women's Bonus winner, she was raced by Robyn Parker, Irene Mitchell, Loretta Fung, Katie Thompson, Rae Fletcher, Shannon and Jordan Fletcher, Qatar Bloodstock and G1G Racing & Breeding.

Widden, David Redvers of Qatar Racing and Telemon Thoroughbreds’ Dan and Rae Fletcher had initially purchased Sunlight's dual Group 3-winning dam Solar Charged (Charge Forward) to breed to and send to Zoustar.
Sunlight will now head back to Widden to be prepared for the National Broodmare Sale.
"We bred a champion who was a life changer and we are honoured to prepare her for the next chapter of her life," farm owner Antony Thompson. "She is a foundation mare that screams speed yet oozes quality who I’m sure will leave a legacy at stud."
Sunlight aside, the Magic Millions Sale will offer a number of other premium lots.
“She’s not the only blue chip mare in there with the likes of Invincibella, a Group 1 winner by I Am Invincible out of a Galileo mare; Unforgotten who has an outstanding pedigree by Fastnet Rock out of a Galileo mare and Viddora, a two-time Group 1 winner by I Am Invincible in foal to one of Europe’s best stallions in Lope De Vega,” Bowditch said.
“These are mares that can go anywhere in the world and take a farm to another level.”
Champagne Cuddles (Not A Single Doubt) is another to be added to the list as a Group 2 and 3 winner and a four-time Group 1 placegetter.
