Looking Ahead - May 24

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Today, we fancy the chances at Muswellbrook of a resuming 3-year-old from a speedy family and a juvenile on debut who has impressive international credentials. At Ladbrokes Park, we are confident a filly can maintain her perfect record following an impressive first-up victory.

Charlie Flyer (Myboycharlie {Ire}) has been patiently handled by trainer Cameron Crockett and the reward of that approach may be imminent. The 3-year-old finished fifth on debut in the spring before a break and has indicated her readiness to resume with a recent second in an open trial.

She has a speed-based pedigree and is out Lyka Flyer (Testa Rossa), who was successful at 1000 metres. She is out of a half-sister to the G3 Maribyrnong Plate winner Exceedingly Good (Exceed And Excel), who also won the Listed Maribyrnong Trial S., and Common Interest (More Than Ready {USA}), a stakes winner in Australia and Singapore.

Outburst (Real Impact {Jpn}) brings a highly-successful international pedigree to the table and is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Raweesha. His dam is a sister to the G2 Prix de Royallieu winner Moon Queen (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells {USA}), whose brother Rostropovich (Ire) is also a stakes winner and Group performer.

The second dam Infamy (Ire) (Shirley Heights {GB}) won the G1 Woodbine International S. and it’s also the family of the Group 2 winners Innuendo (Ire) (Caerleon {USA}) and Criticism (GB) (Machiavellian {USA}). Outburst has enjoyed a couple of quiet trials and on pedigree alone might be worth serious consideration.

Aidensfield (Dissident) ran up to her sharp pedigree when she was untested to win on debut at Caulfield. She can only improve for that experience and looks set to maintain her perfect record. The Lindsay Park representative will again be ridden by Daniel Stackhouse.

A $125,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale graduate, Aidensfield is the first foal to race for the multiple winner and black type performer Muscovado (Big Brown {USA}). She is a half-sister to the G3 McNeil S. winner Sugar Babe (Exceed And Excel). Their dam On Type (Zeditave) was a three-time Group 2 winner and the smart 2-year-old and G3 Schweppervesence H. winner Bellevue Hill (Pierro) also features close up in the family.
