A sizeable draft from Godolphin features in the July (Early) Online Sale and the global operation has an impressive record of selling top-producing breeding stock.

History strongly suggests there will be hidden gems among the 41-strong consignment, with bidding already open on a catalogue that also features the Melbourne Gold Sale.

Godolphin’s offerings are headlined by Lot 503, the G2 Light Fingers S. and G3 San Domenico S. winner and multiple stakes placegetter Obsequious (Lonhro).

The Godolphin draft is headlined by Obsequious, pictured winning the G2 Light Fingers S.

She has a perfect record at stud with all three of her foals to race having been successful and she will be sold in foal to Frosted (USA).

There are also siblings to G1 Epsom H. winner Hauraki (Reset), G1 South Australia Derby winner Kidnapped (Viscount), G2 Danehill S. winner Soul (Commands), G3 Kindergarten S. winner Furnaces (Exceed And Excel) and multiple Listed winner Etymology (New Approach {Ire}).

The draft also features a further 28 pregnant mares and daughters of leading sires including Exceed And Excel, Commands, Medaglia D’Oro (USA), Sebring, Bernardini (USA) and Canny Lad.

Premier broodmares

Godolphin has previously offered a number of mares who have gone on to produce winners to the highest level.

That was highlighted last season with the emergence of the top colt Microphone, who retired to Darley following success in the G1 ATC Sires’ Produce S. and runner-up finishes in the G1 Golden Slipper S. and the G1 Randwick Guineas.

The dam of G1 ATC Sires' Produce S. winner Microphone, was sold by Godolphin at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $70,000

His dam Sung (Anabaa {USA}) was offered at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and purchased by Boomer Bloodstock’s Craig Rounsefell for $70,000.

The previous year Godolphin sold Erato (Street Cry {Ire}) for $120,000 to Australian Bloodstock and she became a Group 1 producer when her daughter Lyre (Lonhro) triumphed in the Blue Diamond S.

Erato was offered at last year’s National Sale at the Gold Coast and was knocked down to Yulong for $1.75 million.

Value buys

The Inglis Australian Broodmare Sales have also provided shining examples of the value to be found in Godolphin drafts.

In 2017, Fratianne (Lonhro) sold to Widden Stud for $185,000 and in 2019 she became a stakes producer when her daughter Tenley (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}) won the G2 Reisling S.

The following year, Fratianne’s Sebring filly made $410,000 to the bid of Sun Bloodstock at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The Inglis Broodmare Sale also produced a royal result for Murrulla Stud when they purchased Pouter (Dubawi {Ire}) in foal to Brazen Beau for $57,500.

The resulting colt went through the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale ring in 2019 and was signed for at $550,000 by bloodstock agent Bruce Perry.
