Rosehill, G2 De Bortoli Wines Run To The Rose, $200,000, 1200m
Race Summary
Farnan (Not A Single Doubt) led by a considerable margin throughout the race but couldn’t hold on as Rothfire (Rothesay) scooted past him to take his first Sydney win and stamp himself as one of the leading 3-year-olds in the country.
The Queensland raider tried to take on Farnan but settled in second as the G1 Golden Slipper winner kicked clear. Rothfire gradually made up ground in the straight and went past with the minimum of fuss to win by 1.5l.
Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) ran on well to finish second while North Pacific (Brazen Beau) was a further 1l away in third.
Pedigree notes
Rothfire is out of Huss On Fire (NZ) (Hussonet {USA}), who was unraced and is also the dam of the winners Rylee’s Saga (Real Saga {USA}) and Smokin’ Hussay (Rothesay).

Rosehill, G2 Schweppes Sheraco S., $200,000, 1200m
Race summary
After almost a year since she last race, the Chris Waller-trained Haut Brion Her (Zoustar) picked up where she left off as she landed a victory here.
Last seen winning the G2 Blazer S. at Flemington on October 5 last year, she settled in second behind Sweet Deal and as the daughter of Casino Prince began to fade at the 300 metre mark, Haut Brion Her kicked away and went on to win by 0.8l.
Jen Rules (Redoute’s Choice) got out late and sprinted home to finish second while Seasons (Sebring) came home another 0.3l away in third.
Pedigree notes
Retained to race by her breeders Three Bridges Thoroughbreds and Gary Johnston, Haut Brion Her is one of four winners from five to race out of Light Finger S. runner-up One In A Million (Redoute’s Choice), who is also responsible for multiple stakes winner Karacatis (Hussonet {USA}) and Listed scorer Shamillion (Shamardal {USA}).
Her second dam is Listed victor Happen (Zeditave), who herself is a sister to Eskimo Prince H. winner Major and a half-sister to the dam of Group 3 scorer Lightinthenite (Galileo {Ire}).
Rosehill, Listed Drinkwise Dulcify Quality, $150,000, 1500m
Race Summary
Mo’unga (NZ) (Savabeel) kept his unbeaten record intact and added a valuable black-type win to his CV as he steamed home to take out the Listed Dulcify Quality.
The 3-year-old colt, who is trained by Chris Waller, settled in well back in the field and James McDonald bided his time until a gap opened with 300 metres to go and he burst through, hit the front with 50 metres to go and won by 1.5l.
It was an Aquis-owned and Waller-trained quinella as Global Quest (More Than Ready {USA}) finished second with expensive colt Jet Propulsion (Rubick) holding on to finish third.
Pedigree notes
Mo’unga was purchased by Aquis Farm for NZ$325,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale from the draft of Waikato Stud and is the first winner from two to race out of the stakes-placed mare Chandelier (NZ) (O’Reilly {NZ}).
Chandelier is a sister to multiple stakes winner and Group 1-placed mare Irlanda (NZ) and their dam Seraphic (NZ) (Imposing), finished second in the G1 Air New Zealand S.
Further back, this is also the family of G1 Auckland Cup winner Chenille (NZ) (Pentire {GB}) and G2 Wakefield Challenge S. scorer Not An Option (Not A Single Doubt).
