Anders to miss Moir

Boom colt Anders (Not A Single Doubt) will miss this Friday's G1 Moir S. after coming down with a temperature.

Trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace confirmed that the setback would see Anders miss his gallop at Moonee Valley on Monday and also rule him out of the Group 1 sprint.

The setback has been described as only minor, and he is expected to be fit for later spring targets such as The Everest, provided he gains a slot, and the G1 Coolmore Stud S.

A lucrative deal signed last week saw Widden secure a controlling interest in Anders and also secure his stud future.

He has burst to prominence this spring with dominant wins in both the Listed Rosebud and the G3 San Domenico S.

Vets' call on Catalyst's spring

A vet examination on Monday is expected to determine the spring future for Catalyst (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ]).

Catalyst finished last in the G2 The Shorts at Randwick on Saturday and trainer Clayton Chipperfield is hoping to get to the bottom of any issue as soon as possible.

“We’ve got the vet coming around to do some x-rays to get to the bottom of it,” Chipperfield told Racenet.

“At the moment he is the same as he was yesterday. Bossy said he felt brilliant going around to the start and was happy with him in the running.

“He felt if he could sprint he would have been right there in the top three or four but obviously that never happened and when he went to let him go, there was nothing there."

Catalyst was being set for both The Everest and the Golden Eagle.

McNeil to ride Caulfield Cup favourite

Jye McNeil has gained the ride of favourite Orderofthegarter (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G1 Caulfield Cup.

Owner Lloyd Williams confirmed that Orderofthegarter would be ridden by McNeil in the $5 million feature on October 17.

The imported stayer, who is trained by Danny O'Brien, confirmed his spot in the Caulfield Cup field when winning the G3 MRC Foundation Cup on Saturday for Damien Oliver.

Oliver is unable to ride below 53.5kg and with Orderofthegarter handicapped on the limit of 50kg and facing a small weight penalty, connections opted for McNeil as their lightweight rider.

Eduardo eyes Everest

Eduardo's (Host {Chi}) hard-fought second in Saturday's G2 The Shorts at Randwick has trainer Joe Pride thinking about The Everest.

Pride said he was hoping to sew up an Everest slot for the 7-year-old as soon as possible after he was overrun late by Classique Legend (Not A Single Doubt).

“We are in conversations with a couple of slotholders so hopefully we can get something sewn up pretty quickly,” Pride told Racenet.

“The horse was terrific so we are very pleased. He is a lovely horse and wasn’t going to lay down there. It was only a late swooper that got him.

“The likes of Bivouac and Dirty Work, none of those horses passed him so he is very tenacious.

"We obviously have a very big opinion of this horse so it was nice to see him confirm that judgment after thinking he was up to the better ones.

“We are still hopeful of getting to The Everest with him and I don’t think he lost anything on Saturday.”

Williams expects more from Felicia

Jockey Craig Williams believes G3 How Now S. winner Felicia (Unencumbered) can measure up to better races off her win on Saturday.

Felicia broke through for her first stakes win and Williams told After The Last that he expected her to continue to add to her black-type tally.

“She’s got really good potential," Williams said. "We saw her class at the end of her 3-year-old career, it’s always hard to know if they do improve but she really has.

“From now on there’s some really good black-type options for a mare in form. I wouldn’t be surprised to see her go to the (Robert) Sangster next year and I also wouldn’t be surprised to see her get out to 1400 metres.

“She takes a lot of work, so credit to Dean Binaisse and his team," Williams said. "I love the way that she fought back late last start at Moonee Valley after being headed by Showmanship. That performance allowed me to ride her the way I did yesterday and full of confidence.”

Richards looking to Epsom with Probabeel

Trainer Jamie Richards is looking forward to his top-quality mare Probabeel (NZ) (Savabeel) tackling the G1 Epsom H. after her impressive win in the G3 Bill Ritchie H. at Randwick on Saturday.

“It was a fantastic win by Probabeel,” Richards said.

“We were really happy with her first-up run. She’d come on for the trial and she stripped in good shape.

Probabeel (NZ)

“Ashley Handley and Craig Thornton are over there looking after the horses and I’d like to thank them for the sacrifices they’ve made being away from family – particularly Ashley who has been away for so long.

“I thought Kerrin McEvoy gave her a perfect trip, having explained to me on the phone what he wanted to do and he carried it out with pinpoint accuracy.

“It’s a nice lead-up to the Epsom and hopefully she can draw a decent gate and strike a good track.”

Windsor Park Plate next for Supera

Having charged home for second in the G1 Tarzino Trophy at Hastings on Saturday, co-trainer Ken Kelso is hoping Supera (NZ) (Savabeel) can go one better when she tackles the G1 Windsor Park Plate in two weeks.

Having her first run in a new campaign, Supera flew home the last 50 metres in tight quarters to snatch second, some 0.75l behind the winner Callsign Mav (NZ) (Atlante).

"We were rapt with the run,” Kelso said.

“She just needed to get some clear air in the straight as she had a little trouble getting some space to make her run.

“She has pulled up really well, came home last night and ate up well so we are very happy.

“She will go to the Windsor Park Plate now and then, all going well, on to the Livamol on the last day.”
