Winning again in HK for Deep Field

Winning Dreamer (NZ) (Deep Field) turned heads with his impressive debut victory in May, with trainer Frankie Lor labelling him a future Group horse. He strode to another win in July before making it a hat-trick of wins on Sunday night at Sha Tin.

The son of Deep Field stepped up to 1200 metres, bursting through at the 300 metres to put 2l on his opposition. He gallantly fought off a tough challenge, to win by 0.75l

The 4-year-old was bred by Matt Goodson and Di Perron, and sold by Tartan Meadows Bloodstock for NZ$300,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale. Dam Markisa (Danehill {USA}) is from the famous Eight Carat (GB) (Pieces Of Eight {GB}) family, being a half-sister to Shower Of Roses (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), a daughter of G1-winner Marquise (Gold And Ivory).

Exceed And Excel granddaughter wins Belmont Oaks

Making her first start in the United States, Magic Attitude (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) made easy work of the 2000 metre G1 Belmont Oaks on Saturday.

Transferred to Arnaud Delacour after a fifth in the G1 Prix de Diane in July, Magic Attitude was the last marker in the field as Godolphin’s Antoinette (USA) (Hard Spun {USA}) set the pace. The Lael Stable runner showed a strong turn of foot as they entered the final 300 metres to take over the lead soon after and win by 2.25l over Antoinette with Neige Blanche (Fr) (Anodin {Ire}) in third.

"The pace was a little bit of a concern,” Delacour said. “With a five-horse field, you never know what's going to happen, but it didn't change her running style as that's how she likes to race. [Jockey Javier Castellano] timed it perfectly and she came with a good kick.”

Out of Exceed And Excel’s Group 1 winner Margot Did (Ire), the filly is one of two stakes winners for her dam alongside Group 2 winner Mission Impassible (Ire). Magic Attitude’s third dam Caraniya (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}) was imported to Australia in 2003 and had three foals in the country before being retired, led by stakes winner Very Sydney (Danehill {USA}).

Starship Jubilee keeps rolling in Woodbine Mile

Starship Jubilee (USA) (Indy Wind {USA}) earned two major distinctions in one fell swoop with her win in the G1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile on Saturday, becoming the oldest winner of the race and only the third mare to win the race this century .

Racing over 1600 metres, Starship Jubilee was always just a few lengths off the leader. Moving even closer at the top of the stretch, Starship Jubilee had the lead by the final 200 metres and secured her victory by 1l over March To The Arch (USA) (Arch {USA}) with War Of Will (USA) (War Front {USA}) in third.

“She’s so honest and wants to win more than anybody else out there. I watched her replays… she’s just gritty. She just waited for her cue and took off like a scalded cat. She was gone,” jockey Justin Stein said.

The first filly or mare to win the race since Tepin (USA) in 2016, 7-year-old Starship Jubilee was winning her fifth of six starts in 2020.

The filly is one of three stakes horses from eight to race out of Perfectly Wild (USA) (Forest Wildcat {USA}) and a granddaughter of Grade 1 winner Perfect Arc (USA) (Brown Arc {USA}) with two of her first three dams winning at least one Grade 1 in their career.

Addeybb wins again in Doonside Cup

Making his second start since his two Group 1 wins in Australia, Addeybb (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}) bounced back from a second at Royal Ascot with a win in the Listed Jordan Electrics Doonside Cup S.

With Tom Marquand aboard, the 6-year-old gelding raced prominently in the 2000 metre race to take command in the final 200 metres and hold off a charging Lord Glitters (Fr) (Whipper {USA}) by 0.75l at the end.

It was the 10th career victory for Addeybb in 19 starts with the gelding also finishing in the top three, five other times.

Addeybb is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Meer Kat (Ire) (Red Ransom {USA}) and five other winners out of his dam Bush Cat (USA) (Kingmambo {USA}) with the gelding hailing from the family of dual Group 1 winner Strategic Choice (USA) (Alleged {USA}).

Sea Of Faith newest stakes winner for Jumooh

Already the dam of full brothers and Australian Group winners Shraaoh (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and Raheen House (Ire), Jumooh (GB) (Monsun {Ger}) added a fourth stakes winners from four winners when the pair’s full sister Sea Of Faith (Ire) won the Listed Prix des Tourelles.

Sent to the lead from the start of the 2400 metre race, the filly had enough left to hold off Cosmic Princess (GB) (Kingman {GB}) by a neck at the end.

The 4-year-old’s dam Jumooh has produced five runners with all but one by Sea The Stars (Ire). That fourth runner is Listed winning Born With Pride (Ire), by Sea The Stars’ half-brother Born To Sea (Ire). There are Group winners under all three of Sea Of Faith’s first three dams with the filly also from the family of G1 1000 Guineas winner Ghanaati (USA) (Giant’s Causeway {USA}) and 1000 Guineas third Maqaasid (GB) (Green Desert {USA}).

Six length winner for Foxwedge

Woodside Park Stud’s Foxwedge was well represented in Newmarket during the closing race of the day when his Balgair (GB) romped home in the Close Brothers Invoice Finance Amateur Jockeys' Cambridgeshire.

Racing near the rear in the 1800 metre race, Balgair smoothly went to the lead with 200 metres left to run. It took no time at all for the 6-year-old gelding to build his margin, winning by 6l.

Conceived during the second of Foxwedge’s three shuttling seasons to England, Balgair hails from the extended family of New Zealand Group 1 winner Julinsky Prince (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}) and G1 Australasian Oaks third Fanciful Bella (Bellotto {USA}).

Well-bred juvenile newest stakes winner for More Than Ready

Making his debut in the Ontario Racing S. over 1000 metres on the turf, Credit River (Can) (More Than Ready {USA}) gave his sire a 2-in-1 deal when breaking his maiden and winning a stakes race in the process.

Credit River went off at odds of 41-1 and was more than 9l behind the leader in the early stages but figured out the game late. Making a big run up the middle of the track, the colt registered a 0.75l victory over Sky’s Not Falling (USA) (Seville {Ger}).

The 204th stakes winner for the legendary More Than Ready (USA), Credit River is the third stakes horse for stakes-winning Like a Gem (Can) (Tactical Cat {USA}). That mares foals are headed by three-time Grade 1 winner Hard Not to Like (USA) (Hard Spun {USA}) with her full brother Time To Travel (USA) also stakes placed.

Two win day for Frosted

Darley shuttle sire Frosted (USA) registered his fifth and sixth winners on Saturday when Likable (USA) followed up a win by Tkotchke (USA) at Churchill Downs with his own at Belmont.

Racing over 1200 metres, Tkotchke was close behind the leader for much of the race. The colt showed determination to hold on by a nose after getting the lead late in the stretch to become his sire’s sixth winner.

Less than an hour later, Likeable demolished the field in his victory. A troubled second-last out, Likeable took the lead and never looked back in his Belmont Park maiden. The colt built up his lead at every call to win by an easy 8.25l without ever being called on.

Frosted’s first Southern Hemisphere 2-year-olds hit the track this season with 103 mares visiting the stallion in 2017.
