Mel O’Gorman will be selling at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale this month for a sixth time and with proven racetrack success of past graduates her draft is sure to be a must see for potential buyers.

Under her O’Gorman Racing Stables banner as agent, she will present a consignment of half a dozen colts at the October 20 auction at Riverside Stables.

“It’s definitely been a worthwhile project for me and looking back over the last five years or so I’ve sold a lot of winners, including Trumbull that I sold to Kim Waugh,” she said.

A $125,000 purchase, Trumbull (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}) has had six wins and eight placings from Waugh’s Wyong stable, including last season’s Listed Civic S. at Rosehill and has earned just shy of $340,000.

Another excellent money spinner has been Lonhro Gold (Denman), who was a $40,000 buy for Singapore trainer Cliff Brown and he won six races and banked more than $285,000.

One of the potential stars of the current draft is Lot 74, a son of Pride Of Dubai and the winning Onemorenomore mare Paris Motion being sold on behalf of Zhongli Thoroughbreds.

“I really like this colt, he’s a strong and powerful 2-year-old sprinting type. I am sure he will be well-received by the buying bench,” O’Gorman said.

His dam is a half-sister to the dual Group 3 winner Gotta Have Heart, whose sister Crossyourheart was a stakes-winning 2-year-old and the family of the G1 Hong Kong Sprint winner All Thrills Too (St Covet).

Another favourite is Lot 211, a Zoustar colt from Dare To Dance (NZ) (Pins).

“He’s very forward for his age and he’s just a classic Zoustar type. He’s got a lovely head, girth and shoulder and is a beautifully-balanced horse,” O’Gorman said. “He likes his stable life and routine and coped very well with the breeze-up preparation.”

The 2-year-old is out of a half-sister to the G2 Reisling S. winner Hips Don’t Lie (Stravinsky {USA}) and she has produced the G3 Chairman’s S. winner Ennis Hill (Fastnet Rock), whose sister Lake Geneva won the Listed William Crockett S. and was third in the G1 Golden Slipper S. and the G1 Blue Diamond S.

More recent form has been added to this family by the G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint S. winner Splintex (Snitzel).

First cab off rank

First into the ring will be a son of Sooboog, Lot 27, who is out of the I Am Invincible mare Invincible Isla and the family of black-type winner Brave Decision (Military Plume {NZ}) while Lot 66 is a Duporth colt.

He is out of a half-sister to Listed winner Zelsnitz (Snitzel) and to the dam of the G1 New Zealand Derby winner Sherwood Forest (Fastnet Rock) and the family of multiple Group 1 winner and champion sire Holy Roman Emperor (Ire).

Lot 116 is a son of Shalaa (Ire) and the winning Exceed And Excel mare Silverscreen Queen with the champion South African filly and Group 1 winner Sun Classique (Fuji Kiseki {Jpn}) featuring on the pedigree page.

Completing the draft is a Dissident colt, Lot 127, out of a half-sister to the G3 Silver Shadow S. winner and two-time Group 1 placegetter Pane In The Glass (Testa Rossa), dam of G2 Euclase S. winner Xilong (Deep Field), also third in the G1 Surround S.
