Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

Today, we like the chances of a 3-year-old Not A Single Doubt filly debuting at Kilmore, at Moonee Valley an Element Hill graduate takes our fancy, as does a Deep Field gelding who has had one start for one win.

Kilmore, Race 1, 1.30pm AEDT, Bet365 Maiden, $23,000, 1100m

Set to make her debut, the Lindsay Park-trained Ashburton (Not A Single Doubt) was purchased by Sun Bloodstock for $290,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud and is out of G2 Phar Lap S. winner Colorado Claire (Hussonet {USA}), making her a sister to G2 Todman S. winner Gunnison.

Ashburton’s second dam is Listed winner Lunaspur (Flying Spur) who also produced G2 Moonee Valley Vase winner Mooneovermanhattan (Manhattan Rain) and is a half-sister to Bubble Below (Hussonet {USA}), the dam of G1 Hong Kong Chairman’s Sprint Prize winner Lucky Bubbles (Sebring).

Hopkins (Zoustar) was purchased by Aquis Farm and Busuttin Racing for $200,000 from the draft of Element Hill at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and is out of unraced Sadler’s Wells (USA) mare Global Dance (Ire).

Out of stakes winner Solo De Lune (Ire) (Law Society {USA}), Global Dance is a half-sister to Group 1 winner Cerulean Sky (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}), who also produced G2 Doncaster Cup winner and G1 St Leger third Honolulu (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}), and G1 Irish Oaks winner Moonstone (GB) (Dalakhani {Ire}).

Originally sold by Bhima Thoroughbreds to Glastonbury Farm for $46,000 at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, Deep Speed (Deep Field) was purchased by McEvoy Mitchell Racing for $220,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and has had one start for one win.

He is out of unraced Fastnet Rock mare Fast ’N’ Witty, who is also responsible for G3 Breeders’ Plate third Astrologer (Star Turn) and is a half-sister to stakes-winning sprinter Crystal Dreamer (Stratum) and a sister to Fast Talker, the dam of Listed Twilight Glow S. winner Persuader (Zoustar).
