Race summary

Mike Moroney’s Sound (Ger) (Lando {Ger}) scored his long-awaited first Australian win with a dominant performance here.

Ridden by Jamie Kah, he settled back in the field to start with but when the tempo slowed in the back straight, Kah elected to circle the field and sit outside Levendi (Pierro) in the lead.

He then went past Levendi at the 200 metre mark and went on the win by 1.25l.

Brimham Rocks (GB) (Fastnet Rock) ran on well for second while Future Score (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}) also finished off the race nicely to come home in third.

Race summary

The Symon Wilde-trained Allibor (All Too Hard) broke his maiden in style with a hard-fought win here.

The 3-year-old gelding settled back in the field in a quickly run race and stormed down the long Sandown straight with race favourite Sweet Reply (Deep Field), narrowly ending out the filly on the line to win by 0.1l.

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Valanetti (Sebring) was another 1.75l away in third.

Allibor was purchased by Wilde Racing and Cameron Cooke Bloodstock for $60,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Blue Gum Farm and is out of American stakes-winning mare Libor Lady (Exchange Rate).

Libor Lady has produced for winners from four runners and is related to G1 Keeneland Blue Grass S. winner Stately Victor (Ghostzapper {USA}) and Champion Female Sprinter Musical Romance (USA) (Concorde’s Tune {USA}).

The mare has a yearling filly by Good Journey (USA) and foaled a colt by Written Tycoon this year.

Allibor becomes stakes winner number 18 for Vinery Stud resident All Too Hard, who also sired the winner of this race in 2017 with Villermont.

Race summary

Kemalpasa (Magnus) scored his second stakes win in a row as he led from point to post to score an impressive victory here.

The 6-year-old gelding jumped from an inside barrier under Craig Williams with Streets Of Avalon (Magnus) on his outside but never looked in trouble as he kicked away in the straight to go on and win by 1l.

Order Of Command (Squamosa) ran home very well to finish second and as did Neigboughhood (Street Boss {USA}) who was another 0.75l away in third.

Kemalpasa was purchased by co-trainer Richard Jolly for $140,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and is a son of the Bianconi (USA) mare Yarra Bank.

Yarra Bank is a daughter of Yarra Dreaming (NZ) (Nassipour {USA}) and she is a half-sister to the Listed Singapore Gold Cup winner Grand Jury (Deputy Governor {USA}).

Race summary

Junipal (Reset) landed a well-deserved maiden stakes win as he got a perfect run to landed a comfortable win.

The 5-year-old gelding settled third in the run under John Allen and tracked up to the leaders with ease to go on and win by 1.25l.

Favourite Kenya (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) held on for second after leading the trip while Buffalo River (USA) (Noble Mission {GB}) was another 1l way in third.

G3 Nick Johnstone Real Estate Eclipse S., $160,000, 1800m

Race summary

After being thereabouts throughout the spring carnival, So Si Bon (So You Think {NZ}) nabbed a well-deserved stakes win as he pipped his stablemate Power Scheme (Fiorente) on the line.

The 7-year-old gelding settled third last in the run under Mark Zahra and tracked into the race around the bend before storming home in the last 100 metres and getting his nose down at the right time to steal the victory by 0.1l.

Power Scheme was bitterly unlucky in second while Homesman (USA) (War Front {USA}) was another 0.1l away in third.

A $250,000 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale purchase for his original trainer Robbie Laing from the draft of Newgate Farm, So Si Bon is out of the Listed winner Black Minx (NZ) (Lonhro), who has also produced the Singapore winner Man Of Mystery (All Too Hard).

He is the second last foal for Black Minx, who was out of top-quality Group 2 winning mare Faith Hill (Danehill {USA}) and was a half-sister to stakes-placed More Than Faith (More Than Ready {USA}).

So Si Bon's third dam is the Group 3 winner Simply Believe (Kenmare {Fr}), who is from the same family as ill-fated stallion Lion Hunter.

The gelding brought up a stakes double at Sandown for his sire So You Think (NZ) after Carif took out the Listed Sandown Cup.

G3 Rod Rocket ‘Smith’ Summoned S., $160,000, 1500m

Race summary

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Missile Mantra (Smart Missile) returned to the winner’s stall for the first time since May 2019 as she scored a narrow victory here.

Ridden by John Allen, the mare settled well back in the field and loomed up around the bend before shooting past the field in the final stages of the race. She had to battle her way past Tricky Gal (Magic Albert) but she managed to get her head in front eventually and won by 0.1l.

Tricky Gal held on for second while My Pendant (NZ) (Pins) finished off well to score third by 2.25l.

Purchased by Triple Crown Syndications for $30,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the draft of Arrowfield Stud, Missile Mantra is the second foal out of Wecansay Mak (Starcraft {NZ}) and is a sister to three-time winner Maximak.

Wecansay Mak herself is a sister to two-time Group 1 winner We Can Say It Now, who is also the dam of Group 3 winner Sky Kingdom (Ire) among her winners as a broodmare.

Their second dam is Group 2 winner and Group 1 AJC Oaks second Courtalista (NZ) (Pompeii Court {USA}), who produced one stakes winner and four winners from nine to race.

Wecansay Mak has a yearling filly by Dundeel (NZ) and foaled another filly by Snitzel this year.

Missile Mantra is one of 19 stakes winners for Twin Hills Stud resident Smart Missile.

Listed Thoroughbred Club Merson Cooper S., $140,000, 1000m

Race summary

Short-priced favourite Forbes (Capitalist) looked all but home before Anamoe (Street Boss {USA}) rocketed home to get the win.

The James Cummings-trained colt, who was ridden by Damien Oliver, settled towards the back of the field and was locked away on the fence before he veered out to the outside in the final 200 metres and stormed home to beat Forbes by 0.1l.

The Art Of Flying (Flying Artie) added another stakes-placing to his CV as he finished off well to come home 2.75l away in third.

Bred by Godolphin, Anamoe is the fourth winner from seven to race out of G1 Australasian Oaks winner Anamato (Redoute’s Choice), making him a half-brother to Irish stakes winner Anamba (GB) (Shamardal {USA}).

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Carif (So You Think {NZ}) scored his first win in over a year with a strong performance at his first time over 3200 metres.

Ridden by Jamie Kah, the 5-year-old entire settled into position in a muddled race and presented at the top of the straight before running past the leaders to go on and win by 0.2l.

Realm Of Flowers (So You Think {NZ}) ran home strongly but couldn’t get past Carif while San Huberto (Ire) (Speightstown {USA}) held on to finish 1.75l away in third after racing on the speed.

Bred and raced by Think Big Stud, Carif is the first foal to race of dual Group 1 winner Norzita (NZ) (Thorn Park {NZ}), who was bought by Freyer Bloodstock for $1.7 million at the 2019 Inglis Chairman’s Sale.

Race summary

Hindaam (NZ) (Savabeel) scored her first stakes win in impressive fashion as she showcased the trademark Savabeel turn of foot and stormed home to win.

Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse, the filly settled back in a strung-out race and began tracked up around the bend before slotting past her rivals to win by 0.5l.

Favourite La Mexicana (I Am Invincible) raced on the speed and held on for second while Star Of Uma (I Am Invincible) was another 1.75l away in third.

Bayrock is out of Legally Bay (Snippets), making her a sister to dual Group 1 winner and young Coolmore sire Merchant Navy as well as G2 Roman Consul S. winner Jolie Bay.

Bayrock has a 2-year-old colt named Espionage (NZ) (Savebeel) and foaled a sister to Hindaam this year.

Hindaam becomes the 104th individual stakes winner for multiple Champion New Zealand sire Savabeel.

Listed Clanbrooke Doveton S., $140,000, 1000m

Race summary

Shamino (Shamus Award) continued the fruitful spring for Phillip Stokes and Jamie Kah as he burst through the pack to score his second stakes victory here.

Jumping from barrier nine under Jamie Kah, Shamino settled back in the field and was caught in the pack in the straight but a gap opened in the finals stages of the race and he burst through to win by 1.5l.

Coruscate (Exceed And Excel) ran home strongly to finish second with Tavisan (Tavistock {NZ}) held on to finish 0.1l away in third after racing on the speed.

Shamino’s dam is Elumino (El Moxie), who won six races. Her third dam Celestial Lights (USA) (Bold Ruler {USA}) won the G3 Monmouth Colleen S. and placed in the G2 Schuylerville S. and two other stakes races.

Race summary

The Elanora (Redoute’s Choice), who is trained by Chris Waller, scored her first stakes win at her fourth start with a gutsy performance here.

Ridden by Tommy Berry, the 3-year-old filly settled just behind the frontrunners who ran along at a strong tempo and snuck through on the fence around the bend before kicking away in the straight.

She was challenged strongly by High Supremacy (NZ) (Savabeel) but managed to fight him off with a huge desire to win and scored by 0.6l.

Ellsberg (Spill The Beans) came home another 2.35l away in third.
