Thoroughbred farm owners and managers will be able to access a free webinar conducted by mental health educator Pippa Baker giving them guidance on how to deal with the mental health and wellbeing of staff.
Thoroughbred Breeders Australia (TBA) is facilitating the webinar, which will be available on two dates, November 30 (5pm AEDT) and December 8 (4pm AEDT), in recognition of the impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on staff in the thoroughbred industry.
The pandemic has caused uncertainty for many of those in thoroughbred industry, with border closures and movement restrictions making it difficult to seek support from friends and family.
With many of those who work with thoroughbreds located in rural areas, a need has been identified to help those who manage staff to help foster good mental health among their teams.
The hour-long webinar is designed to help with that process and will look to provide some easy steps for supporting staff over the next few months. It covers topics such as:
- When should you be concerned?
- Deciding whether to talk to the person
- Planning your approach
- How to have the conversation
- Providing support and information as a Manager
Those interested in attending one of the two sessions are being asked to register.
As a principal master instructor in Mental Health First Aid, Pippa Baker delivers Mental Health First Aid training to TBA's Fast Track students.
