Promising filly Bella Tiara (Sepoy) has been in great touch this preparation and she added to her burgeoning record at Caulfield with a dashing run from the back of the field.

The Matthew Williams-prepared 3-year-old settled well off the pace in the Carol Watson H., but when rider Dean Yendall asked her to pick up she sailed down the outside for the second win of her preparation.

A minor player in all three of her runs before a spell, Bella Tiara came off a five-month break to win at Warrnambool and then made ground well to finish third behind the highly-regarded Zou Dancer (Zoustar) at Flemington.

Williams was looking after stable runners at Terang on Saturday, but had given Yendall his pre-race instructions.

“Matthews sent me a text about how he would like me to ride the horse. We went back and they went a slow tempo, which didn’t really help, but she was able to round them up,” the jockey said.

“At the 600 I started to peel out and got to the outside. She wanted to roll in a bit so I put the whip into the left hand and the rest was history.”

Yendall rode Bella Tiara as a 2-year-old last season and at Flemington and has noticed significant improvement in the chestnut.

“She’s turned the corner and has got bigger. She won well at Warrnambool where I was chasing her and she is going places,” he said. “It’s good to get another winner for Matthew and his crew.”

Bella Tiara as a yearling

Bella Tiara was bred by Bowcock Bloodstock and offered by Holbrook Thoroughbreds at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale where Williams parted with $90,000 to take her home.

She is a half-sister to Bewhatyouwannabe (Fastnet Rock), who won three Listed events, and to Only In Jakarta (Snitzel), who has won four of her five starts.

Stakes-winning dam

Their dam Bella Corona (Beautiful Crown {USA}), who has a 100 per cent record at stud with all seven of her foals to race successful, won the Listed Keith Mackay H. and was a multiple Group placegetter and is the only black type performer within the first three generations.

Bella Vista had 0.75l to spare on Sensationalisation (Written Tycoon) and she enjoyed a sweet run behind the leader, but had to wait until 200 metres from home to see clear air and finished off well with Vespertine (Epaulette) a strong third after racing three wide without cover.

There was pre-race sensation when Impecunious (NZ) (Sacred Falls {NZ}), a well-supported favourite off a smart first-up win on the track last month, was scratched on veterinary advice after being kicked behind the barrier.
