The Patrick Payne-trained Double You Tee (Written Tycoon) secured a much-deserved stakes success, proving the superior stayer in the G3 Hobart Cup.
Ridden by Melbourne Cup-winning hoop Jye McNeil, Double You Tee unleashed a sustained run from near the back of the field to sweep to an authoritative win, defeating Classic Weiwei (Shamus Award) by 1.25l, with Barade (Fr) (Havana Gold {Ire}) another 0.5l away in third.
It is a fitting reward for the 6-year-old stayer, who had been thrice-placed in stakes company early in his career. He has now won over $780,000 in prizemoney.

Bred by Armidale Stud, Double You Tee was a $110,000 purchase from the 2016 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale.
He is one of three winners from the Flying Spur mare Kandy Korn, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Baby Corn (Exceed And Excel) - the dam of stakes-placed Cornrow (Duporth) - out of the Group 3 winner Sweet Corn (Scenic {Ire}).
Kandy Korn, who was purchased for $20,000 as a broodmare back in 2011, has a yearling filly by Impending and a foal filly by Alpine Eagle.

Race summary
The Lloyd Kennewell-trained Ethical Solution (Shamus Award) secured her first stakes success at start number 16, powering clear to win the G3 Bow Mistress S.
The Victorian mare, owned by Ultra Racing, showed a sharp turn of foot under jockey Joe Bowditch, proving too strong for Street Icon (Street Boss {USA}), with Runaway Girl (Sebring) in third.
Ethical Solution was having her first run of the campaign and has now won over $217,000 in prizemoney.

Race summary
Lightly raced Newhart (Fighting Sun) caused a significant upset in winning the Listed The Mills Thomas Lyons S. defeating Group 1-winning mare, Mystic Journey (Needs Further).
The last-start Devonport Cup winner proved too strong over the 1400 metres, surging to the front at the top of the straight and giving Mystic Journey something to chase.
In the end, he ran away from the Tassie star, defeating her by 3.75l, with a gap back to Blaze Forth (Court Command) in third.
Newhart has now won over $256,000 in prizemoney with seven wins and five seconds from his 14 starts.

The second stakes winner for Fighting Sun, he is half-brother to stakes-placed Derasa (Squamosa) out of the Commands mare Jesting.
He is out of the family of the multiple Group 1 winner Fantastic Light (USA) (Rahy {USA}).
Jesting had a Pride Of Dubai filly last year and visited the Coolmore stallion again last year.

Hela (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) extended her unbeaten run to five starts and captured her first stakes win in the Listed Crowne Plaza Strutt S., at Hobart.
Stepping out to 2100 metres for the first time, the Scott Brunton-trained Hela set the pace and relished the trip, cruising away to win by 3.75l, over Chequerboard (Fastnet Rock), with Mystique Falcon (NZ) (Pride Of Dubai), another 4l away in third.
The star filly now looks the clear favourite for the G3 Tasmanian Oaks on February 21 at Launceston.

She is a half-sister to 2020 G3 Hobart Cup winner Toorak Affair (Toorak Toff) out of the Redoute's Choice mare Smooth Return. Her extended family includes her third dam, Silk Lilly (USA) (Never Bend), who is a half-sister to blue hen Fanfreluche (Can) (Northern Dancer {Can}).
Smooth Return produced a colt by Akeed Mofeed (GB) last year.
