After a lucrative eight days with their star colt Profiteer, Roll The Dice Racing and Jeremy Rogers Racing have picked up a bonus cheque for $250,000 from Newgate, who stand his sire, Capitalist.
For the past few seasons, Newgate has offered a bonus for any horse by one of its first-season stallions sold through Magic Millions or Inglis yearling sales which can win either the R. Listed Magic Millions 2YO Classic or the R. Listed Inglis Millennium.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained Profiteer did exactly that at Randwick on Saturday, winning the Millennium by 5.3l, with his connections pocketing the $1.26 million winner's cheque.
That came after Newgate and its partners purchased into the colt as a stallion prospect in a deal which, while the financial details were not disclosed, valued the colt at the same level as a high-end yearling purchase.
There are also substantial bonuses built into the contract should Profiteer go on and win a Group 1 race. He is currently favourite for the G1 Golden Slipper S.

Newgate, which sold the colt to Roll The Dice for $165,000 at last year's Inglis Classic Sale, handed over a $250,000 cheque for the first-season sire bonus on Monday.
“It’s most fitting that our Golden Slipper-winning stallion Capitalist has been the first sire that we’ve paid out this huge bonus on. The Capitalist Syndicate is made up of nearly all his original owners as well as some of the leading stud farms in Australia and the syndicate couldn’t be more thrilled to be paying out this significant bonus,” Newgate Managing Director, Henry Field, said.
“It’s particularly pleasing to pay the bonus to the team at Roll The Dice Racing made up of Leigh Saville, Steve Travaglia, and Rob Norton as well as Jeremy Rogers who astutely purchased the colt from the Newgate Draft at last year’s Classic Sale.

"Roll The Dice Racing in a short period has proved to be one of the most professional and respected operators in the Australian syndication market. They put their neck on the line last year, spending more money than they ever have on a yearling, and we are thrilled to be awarding them with this significant incentive designed to reward the buyers doing the hard work selecting the horses at the sales and in many cases taking a risk when buying yearlings on spec.”
Newgate has upped the ante in 2021 with the Russian Revolution First-Season Sire Bonus offering $500,000 to the purchaser of any of his progeny sold through a yearling sale that wins the 2022 Magic Millions 2YO Classic or 2022 Inglis Millennium.
