In the build up to the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, we have picked out three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.
Today, we take a closer look at a Dissident colt whose relative is a recent stakes performer in Hong Kong, a filly by Sooboog from the family of a pair of emerging gallopers and a Winning Rupert colt who recently received a Group 3-winning boost from a family member.
Lot 292 – Dissident x Pass The Jewel (Danewin) – On Account of Kitchwin Hills
This youngster already boasted an impressive pedigree page and received another notable one recently when close relative Russian Emperor (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) finished runner-up in the Listed Hong Kong Classic Cup.
The subject colt’s dam Pass The Jewel is a three-quarter blood sister to the G1 Thousand Guineas winner Commanding Jewel (Commands) and a half-sister to the dam of the multiple Group 1 winner Atlantic Jewel (Fastnet Rock), who produced the afore-mentioned Russian Emperor. It’s also the family of the G1 The Galaxy H. winner I Am Excited (Snitzel) and the G3 Frances Tressady S. winner Flippant (Hinchinbrook).

Lot 323 – Sooboog x Regrowth (Unbridled’s Song {USA}) – On Account of Edinburgh Park
A couple of significant updates have come in for this filly as she is from the same family as the promising Mark Newnham-trained galloper Big Parade (Deep Field), who recently won his fifth race from 11 appearances, and to Greg Eurell’s Wanaroo (Wandjina). At her second start, the 2-year-old ran third in the Listed Festival S.
Edinburgh Park’s youngster is a half-sister to the G3 SAJC Breeders’ S. winner Colour (More Than Ready {USA}) with the pedigree page also featuring the stakes winner and successful sire Not A Single Doubt and the G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint winner and sire Derryn.

Lot 383 – Winning Rupert x Durian (Planchet) – On Account of Murrulla Stud
The Leon and Troy Corstens-prepared Zou Dancer (Zoustar) is a member of this family and did this colt a black-type favour when she was successful in the G3 Vanity S. and also finished a gallant and close fifth in the G1 Australian Guineas.
The Murrulla Stud yearling is out of a half-sister to Top Spin (Arena), who was a multiple stakes winner and acknowledged as a Singapore Horse of the Year. He is out of a half-sister to the G1 VRC Oaks winner and G1 Australian Oaks runner-up Tributes (Quest For Fame {GB}).
