G3 Carlton Draught Kembla Grange Classic, $200,000, 1600m

Race summary

The Arrowfield Stud-raced Miravalle (Redoute’s Choice) had contested six consecutive Group races since winning her maiden at Warwick Farm in the spring, including a fourth in the G1 VRC Oaks.

Resuming following a break when unplaced in the G1 Surround S., she settled behind the leading pack on the fence and apprentice Tom Sherry drove her between runners in the straight for a first black-type win for both horse and rider.

The favourite Elizabeel (Power {GB}) got back in the running and she made ground determinedly for second with the outsider Pipali (Ilovethiscity) third.

Pedigree notes

Bred by Kulani Park, Miravalle was offered at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by the Victorian nursery and was knocked down to the late Rick Worthington for $460,000.

The filly is a half-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Yankee Rose (All American) and they are out of Condesaar (Xaar {GB}), who has also produced the dam of the dual Listed winner Isotope (Deep Field).

Condesaar is a half-sister to the G1 New Zealand Derby winner Redoute’s Dancer (Redoute’s Choice) and also included in the family ranks is the G1 Dewhurst S. winner Tout Seul (Ire) (Ali-Royal {Ire}).
