Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
On Tuesday, a Real Impact (Jpn) filly takes our eye on debut at Scone, as does a progressive I Am Invincible filly who is on resumption, while at Rockhampton, a Foxwedge mare looks to continue her strong record at her home track.

Dawnburst (Real impact {Jpn}) takes on the older horses here on her debut for Kris Lees. She has had two recent trials and improved strongly from the first to the second, where she finished in a bunch of horses 8l adrift of Saturday's G2 BRC Sires' Produce S. runner-up Converge (Frankel {GB}).

She is a homebred for Echo Beach Bloodstock and Brian Singer and is out of Shakira Morn (NZ) (More Than Ready {USA}), who has had a perfect five from five when it comes to runner-to-winners. Shakira Morn is an unraced daughter of stakes-placed Dane Shakira (Danehill {USA}), who is in turn a sister to G2 Queensland Guineas winner Saxon and Group 2 placegetter Power Of Destiny.

Dominant Lady (I Am Invincible) was purchased out of the Late Eduardo Cojuangco Dispersal at last year's Magic Millions National Sale, where she was secured by Dynamic Syndications for $45,000. While she had yet to win a race to that point, it looks to have been a canny buy on her residual value alone, being out of an American stakes winner in Sensible Lady (USA) (Street Boss {USA}), who was in turn out of stakes-winning American mare.

She won on debut in her new colours at Newcastle for Jason Deamer back in December before running a creditable fourth on a Heavy track just before Christmas. She has since been spelled and has had a couple of trials heading into this including a close-up second behind city winner Snowzone (Snitzel) last time out.
Rockhampton, Race 5, 3.27pm AEST, Rockhampton Cup Raceday Sat 10 July Open H., $18,500, 1050m
The 5-year-old mare Chezblack (Foxwedge) resumes for her first start since November, looking to build on a race record which reads seven wins from 18 starts. More importantly, her record at this track and distance reads a perfect three wins from three starts via a hat-trick of victories through August, September and October last year. All those wins came from off the pace, and you can expect her to be steaming home again here.

She is out of multiple Group 1 placegetter Glowlamp (Encosta De Lago), who has produced two other winners in Lamplighter (Fastnet Rock) and Raiden (Foxwedge). Glowlamp is a half-sister to stakes winner Offenbach (Danehill {USA}) and is closely related to Group 2 winner Spanish Whisper (Lope De Vega {Ire}), with successful stallion Rock Of Gibraltar (Ire) also on the pedigree page.
