Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
At Bathurst, we’re keen on a 3-year-old who turned in a fine debut performance and a well-related juvenile with trial form to back his claims. At Pakenham, we like the chances of a lightly raced galloper who has improved with each run this time in.
Bathurst, Race 2, 1.10pm AEST, Pearce’s Furniture & Bedding Plate, $22,000, 1400m
Remus (Vancouver) has a pair of lead-up trials to his Hawkesbury debut where he defied his long odds to finish third. He went back to last from an outside gate and made ground well so from a better gate here, five, the 3-year-old looks a strong chance.
