Novara Park’s Sweynesse will stand at an increased fee in 2021 of NZ$9000 + GST off the back off a strong Australian and domestic season.
Off a previous service fee of NZ$6000 + GST, Sweynesse was New Zealand’s Leading First Season Sire on stakes winners, winners and progeny earnings in 2020 and his stock have continued to excel at the top level.
The Queensland Racing Carnival has seen his daughter, the Listed Wanganui Guineas winner Only Words (NZ) triumph in the G2 Doomben Roses, Signora Nera (NZ) placed in the G1 Queensland Oaks and Listed Gold Bracelet while juvenile Carribean King (NZ) is undefeated in two appearances.
In New Zealand, Brix (NZ) provided Sweynesse with another 2-year-old stakes winner, Explosively (NZ) a winner and dual Group performer. He was the subject of multiple offers before being sold to Hong Kong while Dragon Queen (NZ) placed at Group level before being transferred to Australia.

“Sweynesse's statistics are outstanding. Of the New Zealand stallions with oldest progeny being 3-year-olds or older, Sweynesse is the third-highest in percentages for stakes winners to runners and also stakes performers to runners, behind Savabeel and Darci Brahma,” Luigi Muollo said.
“Sweynesse provides proven value as a sire who is on the way up, so it is an easy choice for breeders.”

Associate sire Staphanos (Jpn), the highest stakes earner at stud in New Zealand and the son of breed-shaper Deep Impact (Jpn) will again stand for NZ$7000 + GST.
The late Deep Impact was again the world’s leading stallion by progeny earnings in 2020, a title he has held annually since 2013 and he has a commanding lead already in 2021. He is the sire of 175 individual stakes winners and a winners to runners ratio of 74 per cent.
“The first foals by Staphanos have been well received by breeders, they are strong, correct, and balanced. They have good bone, excellent scope, and importantly they come with Deep Impact quality,” Muollo said.
Novara Park has supported Staphanos with a variety of its best mares.
“We have many attractive foals of the highest quality and among them is a beautiful Staphanos filly out of Extra Explosive, the dam of multiple Derby winner Explosive Jack,” Muollo said.

A son of the late Jakkalberry (Ire), Explosive Jack (NZ) landed the G1 Australian Derby, G1 South Australian Derby, the Listed Tasmanian Derby and finished third in the G1 Queensland Derby.
Extra Explosive (NZ) (Ekraar {USA}), the dam of Champion Hong Kong Griffin Pick Number One (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}) has produced a Staphanos filly, as has Cool Storm (NZ) (One Cool Cat {USA}), dam of the G1 Auckland Cup winner Ocean Billy (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}).
“Staphanos provides an affordable service fee to breeders. He will have many breeders that have foals on the ground returning to him and his foals will certainly convince other breeders to send a mare to him,” Muollo said.
Sweynesse and Staphanos will be joined by new stallion King Of Comedy (Ire), a stakes winner and Group 1 placegetter, in 2021.
By one of the hottest names in European bloodstock circles in Kingman (GB), King Of Comedy was once rated the top 3-year-old in Europe. His sireline has had great success with I Am Invincible in Australia and Showcasing (GB), and he will stand for an introductory fee of NZ$7000 + GST.
