Progressive juvenile Darceandermill (Lonhro) notched up his second consecutive victory when holding out well-bred debutant Beagle (Pride Of Dubai) at Mornington on Monday.
Trained on course by Jason Warren and Dean Krongold, the colt's previous race experience and liking for Heavy conditions proved the winning formula over the concluding stages.
Taken forward by leading apprentice Will Price, the last-start maiden winner dictated proceedings out in front before kicking clear on straightening and holding a comfortable margin over the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Beagle.
“We went out with a plan knowing we had one of the fittest horses in the race and while the 1200 metres on a Heavy track is hard work, we made the most of his fitness and professionalism,” Warren told Racing.com.
Warren said Darceandermill has a promising future and will be best-suited racing between 1000 and 1200 metres.
“There were some quick horses in the field today, so, we’ve got a lot to look forward to with him.”

Price echoed Warren’s sentiments and said he was confident his mount could hold off Beagle’s late rally, despite being left exposed a long way from home.
“I always felt like I had Beagle covered and coming around the corner my horse kicked quite nicely for me,” Price said.
“Although being in the early part of his career he is still learning how to put them away properly.”
An $80,000 2020 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale purchase by Kevaar Investments, Darceandermill is out of the Listed-placed Luce Del Mare (Fastnet Rock).

His grandam Cosmic Strike (Made Of Gold {USA}) was a three-time stakes winner who was stakes placed on a further six occasions. Her G3 Gilgai S. win and G1 Salinger S. third placing are key features in her race record.
Luce Del Mare currently has a yearling filly by Newgate’s outstanding first-season sire Capitalist and a weanling filly by his barn mate Russian Revolution on the ground while in foal to Cosmic Force.
Smart filly strikes
Meanwhile, progressive filly Kibosh (So You Think {NZ}) handled the step up to city class in the China Horse Club H. at Warwick Farm with aplomb.
The John Thompson-trained 3-year-old was the beneficiary of a smart Reece Jones ride and kicked back over the concluding stages in her first attempt at 1600 metres.
Thompson expects the Pemberton family-owned and bred galloper to improve as she steps out over further ground in her 4-year-old season and beyond.
“She got a little bit keen mid-race and while there were a couple of little worrying things, she showed that she’s just a lovely filly who gives 110 per cent,” he said.
“She’s a progressive filly and, being by So You Think, you’d think she will only get better over more ground.”

Kibosh is out of 1600 metre winner Keenness (GB) (Tiger Hill {Ire}), who herself is a daughter to German Group 3 winner and Group 1 runner-up Karavel (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}).
Keenness’ pedigree page is littered with European stakes winners including well-performed sire and dual Group 1 winner, Pentire (GB), who features in her third damline.
