Experienced Night Watch Attendant
Ridgmont Farm is looking to employ in the role of night watch attendant for the upcoming breeding season and also stud hand to join our farm as we look ahead to the breeding season and further forward to the 2022 yearling sales.
Applicants need to be passionate, dedicated and professional as Ridgmont Farm builds its brand on quality and transparency. Remuneration will be attractive and based on your level of experience.
Ridgmont Farm is seeking experienced night watch staff for the 2021 breeding season.
Skills required:
• Extensive experience foaling mares with the ability to manage difficult foalings
• Administration of Oral, IM and IV medication
• Catheter Care
• Care of neo-natal foals
• Care of mares pre and post foaling
• General stud duties
• Enthusiastic and passionate about their job
The role commences the last week of July and the hours of work required will be 10 hours per night, eight days of the fortnightly roster.
A full-time position beyond the breeding season in an alternative position can be discussed at the end of the season.
An attractive salary package will be offered to the right person and accommodation is available if required.

Stud Hand
Ridgmont Farm are seeking stud hands for full time and casual employment starting from July 1 to join our team.
We are looking for experienced horse people as well as dedicated and ambitious people who have a strong desire to work with thoroughbreds.
Requirements include having the ability to work within a team and upon instruction.
You will also be required to contribute to the culture of the farm and have ambition to progress in the industry. Presentation is a key element as the farm looks to grow its identity and brand.
Accommodation is available on-farm and the salary will be based on your level of experience.

Waikato Stud - Night Watch/Foaling Attendant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join our Foaling Team at Waikato Stud, New Zealand's leading Thoroughbred Stud.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
• Monitoring mares throughout the night
• Attend and assist to foaling mares
• Assisting the mare and foal post foaling
• Foal nursing
• Administering medications
• Mucking out
• Daytime mare surveillance
• Working an hourly/roster system
• Maintain a clean and tidy workplace
Dedicated to the breeding, rearing and development of elite racehorses, based in the iconic thoroughbred region of Matamata, Waikato Stud is home to a number of Southern Hemisphere leading sires lead by six-time Champion stallion Savabeel.
With the season fast approaching we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Night Watch/Foaling Attendant to join our exciting team for the upcoming breeding season, (ideally someone with previous night watch/foaling experience required however not essential). Candidates must be enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude, keen to learn and be able to work well in a small team.
