Baronova winning the Listed Drummond Golf Belmont Classic
Pedigree notes
Baronova is the ninth foal out of the unraced Twinkle Toes (Ire) (Danehill {USA}), thus making her a half-sister to the G3 La Trice Classic winner I’m Feeling Lucky (Bletchley Park) and the Listed-placed Utgard Loki (Frost Giant {USA}).
Twinkle Toes is a half-sister to the dam of G3 Doomben Roses winner Awesome Planet (Giant’s Causeway {USA}), who herself is the dam of G1 Emirates S. winner Awesome Rock. A plethora of European Group 1 winners feature in Twinkle Toes’ second damline, including G1 The Derby winner Dr Devious (Ire) and The Two Thousand Guineas winner Saxon Warrior (Jpn).
She currently has a weanling filly by More Than Ready (USA) on the ground and wasn’t served last breeding season.
Baronova is the second individual stakes winner this season for his Widden Stud sire Fiorente (Ire). The 2013 Group 1 winner will stand his eighth season at Widden Stud, Victoria for a service fee of $11,000 (inc GST).
Morphettville, Listed Oaklands Plate, $107,250, 1400m
Race summary
Mac ‘N’ Cheese (Sebring) showed plenty of class to claim her maiden stakes success at start number three. The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained juvenile blew the start and ultimately found herself spotting the lead more than 10l in the run.
However, rider Baren Vorster didn’t panic and continued to bide his time before trusting his mounts ability and presenting in a five-wide position.
From there he went to work aboard the lightly raced talent and was able to catch tearaway leader Tonneofgrit (Winning Rupert) inside the final 75 metres before pulling away by a commanding margin.
Gosden (Not A Single Doubt) wasn’t disgraced at his return from an extended layoff and rounded out the minors ahead of rank outsider Cassowary (Stratum Star).
Pedigree notes
A $300,000 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchased by Spendthrift Australia from the draft of Newgate Farm, Mac ‘N’ Cheese is the third of four survived foals out of ill-fated Listed Proud Miss S. winner, Bonnie Mac (NZ) (Thorn Park), thus making her a half-sister to G1 Coolmore Stud S. winner Exceedance (Exceed And Excel) and G3 Zedative S. winner Oxley Road (Exceed And Excel).
Bonnie Mac herself is a half-sister to Group winners Upham (NZ) (Mastercraftsman {GB}) and Intimate Moment (NZ) (Dubawi {Ire}). Her third and fourth dam lines are also littered with Northern Hemisphere stakes winners.
Bonnie Mac’s final foal is a colt by boom first season sire Capitalist who was knocked down to Hickman Racing for $1.05 million at this year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
Mac ‘N’ Cheese is the 11th individual stakes winner this season for her deceased sire Sebring, who himself is responsible for this year’s G1 Queen Of The Turf S. winner Nettoyer.
