Chris Waller has Group 1 aspirations for the well-related No Compromise (NZ) (Pins), who has made a significant impact since joining his Sydney stable.
The champion trainer took charge of the 4-year-old in May and in five appearances he has won three races and placed twice with his Australian earnings now more than $100,000.
No Compromise is a half-brother to the two-time Group 1 winner Tofane (NZ) (Ocean Park {NZ}) and won two races from the New Zealand stable of Bill Thurlow before he was sent to Waller.

“He’s going great over there and we thought he would be best placed with Chris. He showed us a fair bit and we thought that the stayers in Sydney were probably a bit weaker at this time of the year,” Thurlow said.
“We sent him to Ellerslie to see how he would go right-handed and that made up our mind about Sydney. He finished third and came from last and it was a massive run.
“I talked to Chris after that and he watched a replay and said send him over. If ever we were going to have a crack, now is the time to do it and it’s really paid off.”
Weight and beating
No Compromise produced a strong last-start staying performance to win over 2400 metres at Rosehill and conceded 4.5kg to the runner-up Sound Of Cannons (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}).
“Chris rang me on Saturday night and he’s going to give him a short break now, a week at the farm, and then set him for the G1 Metropolitan,” Thurlow said. “He won’t be coming back to New Zealand, I can promise you that.”

No Compromise was bought out of breeder Curraghmore’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale with Thurlow signing the ticket at NZ$40,000 on behalf of his brother Grant and his sister-in-law Patty.
“He was a nice yearling and since we got him the family came alive with Funstar and Youngstar winning and then Tofane,” Thurlow said.
No Compromise is out of Baggy Green (Galileo {Ire}), who is a half-sister to the G1 Flight S. winner Funstar (Adelaide {Ire}) and the G1 Queensland Oaks winner Youngstar (High Chaparral {Ire}).

Days of Glory
The Thurlow family also enjoyed top-level success with Glory Days (NZ) (Red Giant {USA}), who Bill trained to win the G1 Auckland Cup and finished third in the G1 Sydney Cup. His brother and sister-in-law sharing in the ownership of the mare as well.
“They have been very lucky owners and had a great run. Glory Days is in foal to Ten Sovereigns now and she’s going to Coolmore this year to be mated with King’s Legacy,” Thurlow said.
Another Group 1 winner to pass through Thurlow’s Stainley Park operation at Waverley was Gingernuts (NZ) (Iffraaj {GB}).

Bloodstock agent Phill Cataldo bought him on Thurlow’s behalf for NZ$5000 out of Goodwood Stud’s New Zealand Bloodstock Weanling Sale draft and sold the subsequent G1 New Zealand Derby, Rosehill Guineas and Windsor Park Plate winner to Te Akau for NZ$42,500 at the NZB Ready to Run Sale.
