Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.
Today, we are in the camp of a gifted daughter of I Am Invincible who steps out at Randwick while at Moonee Valley we like the prospects of a pair of 2-year-olds by promising young stallion Frosted (USA).

Skedaddle (I Am Invincible) is a talented filly who has the form and the pedigree to warrant serious consideration here. She was successful on debut before a break and resumed with a fourth placing before she returned to winning ways under 57kg last time out. In-form apprentice Brock Ryan retains the ride and his claim drops the 3-year-old’s weight down to a handy 54.5kg.

Prepared by Les Bridge, Skedaddle is a half-sister to a pair of winners and their dam Dal Dal (Encosta De Lago) was successful as a juvenile. She is out of the Listed Silver Jubilee S. winner Blab (Flying Spur), who also produced the G1 Flight S. winner Speak Fondly (Northern Meteor) and the G2 Hobartville S. winner Wild And Proud (Snowland). It’s also the family of the two-time Group 1 winner Kenedna (Not A Single Doubt) and the ill-fated sire Spill The Beans, who won the G2 QTC Cup.
Moonee Valley, Race 1, 12.45pm AEST, Mia Kleer Hand Sanitiser H., $125,000, 1000m
Frostin’ (Frosted {USA}) makes appeal on his return after a rewarding first campaign for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden. The youngster was a winner and placed twice, including a runner-up finish in the VOBIS Gold Rush before a spell and looks more than capable of making an impact on his return with Damian Lane to guide his fortunes.
Frostin’ as a yearling
Purchased for $60,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale where he was offered by Riverina Downs, Frostin’ is a half-brother to the G2 Roman Consul S. winner and G1 The Galaxy H. placegetter Viridine (Poet’s Voice {GB}) and they are out of Patina (Anabaa {USA}), who was successful three times. She is a half-sister to the stakes winner Jerezana (Lonhro), dam of the G2 TAB S. winner Osborne Bulls (Street Cry {Ire}) who was also placed at the elite level on multiple occasions.
Moonee Valley, Race 2, 1.20pm AEST, Plant Powered Cleaning H., $125,000, 1000m
Frost Flowers (Frosted {USA}) comes in fresh here and is a proven first-up performer following a debut victory at Flemington earlier this year. The filly then performed creditably in stronger company with a third placing in the G3 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) and was fifth prior to a spell in the Listed Talindert S.
Frosted (USA), sire of Frost Flowers | Standing at Darley
Bred and raced by Godolphin, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Frost Flowers is a half-sister to the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude (Colts & Geldings) winner, G1 Blue Diamond S. runner-up and sire Hanseatic with their dam the Exceed And Excel mare Itameri. She is out of a half-sister to the dual Group 1-winning sprinter and sire Magnus and the dam of the great Black Caviar (Bel Esprit), whose half-brother All Too Hard won four Group 1 events before a successful career at stud. Two-time top-flight winner and sire Ole Kirk is another member of this potent family.
Looking Back
Royal Dress (I Am Invincible) landed an early blow for us when she was a comfortable debut winner at Morphettville for trainers Tony and Calvin McEvoy. Data Patch (Exceed And Excel) overcame a wide run to finish on for a brave third at Ipswich while at Goulburn our fancy Harley Street (Exceed And Excel) was scratched.
