Looking Ahead - August 4

Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we’ll aim to give you something to follow.

On Wednesday, an Extreme Choice half-brother to a Group 1 winner steps out at Moe with Cranbourne’s meeting having been transferred, a colt out of a very quick family makes his debut at Kensington, while at Belmont, we track a Sebring filly from the stable of Neville Parnham.

Moe, Race 1, 12.25pm AEST, Frankston Sand, Soil & Mini Mix 3YO Mdn, $35,000, 1200m

Extreme Flight (Extreme Choice), a colt trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, makes his debut here after a recent Mornington jump-out where he sat off a hot speed and worked home well into third, with every indication he has got a lot of improvement to come.

Kipsbay (Capitalist) is on debut for Chris Waller and looks ready to make his mark after finishing out nicely in a recent Rosehill trial where he was beaten 4.5l but was not asked to fully extend, having spotted the leaders a good margin at the top of the straight.

Flower In The Wind has had four trials heading into her debut, the most recent at Belmont last month, where she stuck on very well, travelling outside the leader and then finishing in third.

Looking Back

It wasn't a successful day for any of our three selections for Tuesday.

Set To Unleash (Extreme Choice) was well backed at Pakenham, but got way back in the field and could only finish seventh, while later on the same program, Benz Baron (Written Tycoon) faded from on the pace to finish sixth.

At Scone, Ciao Bicky (Rubick) could only manage seventh in her second start.
