Following on from the statement from the Federation of Bloodstock Agents Australia (FBAA), of which Magic Millions is an associate member, we unequivocally endorse our full support for the continuation and most critically the progression of The Pattern of racing in Australia.
Australian bloodstock is seen amongst the world's leaders, and one of the very few things that could jeopardise this status which is key to investment in our product is the lack of progression with The Pattern.
In recent years, The Pattern Committee has become completely ineffective with inadequate upgrading and downgrading of races Australia-wide. Black type is fundamental to the bloodstock world and without regular improvements we are at risk of damaging our product both domestically and internationally. Racing Australia needs to bring everyone back to the table and collaborate to resolve the issues at hand.
As a member of the Society of International Thoroughbred Auctioneers (SITA), Magic Millions has obligations to ensure catalogue standards, in the consistent presentation of black type. An effective and collaborative Pattern Committee with a national perspective that can consider the parameters of today's racing is entirely crucial for everyone invested in the thoroughbred industry.
