Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we will aim to give you something to follow.
On Sunday, we start proceedings at Horsham with a well-related debutant before backing up into the following race with a resuming 3-year-old filly. We round out the day in the fifth event at the Sunshine Coast with a progressive son of Bel Esprit.
Horsham, Race 2, 1.50pm AEDT, Carlton Draught Mdn Plate, $35,000, 1200m
Deep’n Meaningful (Deep Field) has been most impressive in two jump-outs to the date.
The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained filly was second on both occasions at Ballarat and Kilmore respectively and should put herself up on speed in this 10-horse field. She just needs a touch of luck from the outside gate to be prominent.
A $200,000 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase, Deep’n Meaningful is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Wedgetail (Foxwedge). They are out of Choisir mare Chloe, who is a half-sister to G1 VRC Oaks winner Bulla Borghese (Belong To Me {USA}), incidentally the third dam of this year’s G2 Danehill S. winner Kallos (Medaglia D’Oro {USA}).

Horsham, Race 3, 2.25pm AEDT, Tuckers Hill Quarry 3YO Mdn Plate, $35,000, 1100m
Ginibi (Headwater) has been jumping out well ahead of her first start since failing in the G1 Blue Diamond S. at Caulfield in February. On debut, she had been only beaten 4.8l when fifth in the G2 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) and the first two past the post in that event, Arcadad (Street Boss {USA}) and Scorched Earth (Nicconi), have posted subsequent stakes victories. Expect the Gemma Rielly-trained 3-year-old to get a lovely run in transit from barrier two.
A $2000 2019 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase, Ginibi is out of the Listed Dulcify S. runner-up Quackquack (Starcraft {NZ}). This is the family of G1 Yalumba S. winner Northern Drake (Varick {USA}) and G1 Adelaide Cup runner-up Nautilism (Naturalism {NZ}).

Sunshine Coast, Race 5, 4.20pm AEDT, Krew Racing QTIS 3YO Colts and Geldings Mdn Plate, $24,000, 1200m
Bad Education (Bel Esprit) presents third-up and ready to break through after finishing third at his first two career starts. The Rob Heathcote-trained galloper has drawn superbly in barrier four and will take a power of beating under leading local hoop Ryan Maloney.
A half-brother to four winners, Bad Education is out of Danzero mare Courtship, who is a half-sister to the Listed South African placegetter Satin Silver (Commands). This is the family of Listed Warrnambool Cup winner Furrion (GB) (Camelot {GB}) and the G3 Ascot Princess Royal S. winner Love Everlasting (GB) (Pursuit Of Love {GB}).

Looking Back
Our Randwick selection Fangirl (Sebring) won in fine style while Newcastle fancy I Am Lethal (I Am Invincible) finished runner-up. Sketched (Snitzel) was disappointing on debut at Bendigo where the colt failed to place.
