G3 Soliloquy S., NZ$80,000, 1400m
It is an open running of this 1400m contest with several honest fillies showing decent class. Such as the unbeaten Ziegfeld (NZ) (Teofilo {Ire}) who showed plenty of heart when resuming with the runner-up Mustang Valley (NZ) (Vanbrugh) again taking her on.
Imperatriz (I Am Invincible) is another who knows how to find the line, winning three of her first four starts, whilst Aris Aris (NZ) (Contributer {Ire}) has found trouble at her first two starts; game at both.
Eva Chiara (NZ) (Savabeel) impressed at her Rotorua debut.
G3 War Decree S., NZ$90,000, 1600m
A short priced favourite in the shape of Field Of Gold (Starspangledbanner) here, the exciting chestnut looking the goods winning both of his starts this time in.
Noverre (NZ) (Savabeel) was no match for Field Of Gold last start but did have to shift out at the 300 metres to get into the clear. Third in that same race was Mackenzie Lad (NZ) (Vespa {NZ}) who can again make his own luck on pace.
Palmetto (NZ) (Ghibellines) comes through the same race having finished fourth, not having the best of luck at the 200 metres.
Listed Spring Classic, NZ$ 60,000, 2000m
Southern Ocean (NZ) (Ocean Park{NZ}) attempts to provide his sire with a stakes winner on the ninth anniversary of his biggest victory, the G1 W.S Cox Plate. He was a marked improver second-up and strips all the fitter.
Also the son of a G1 W.S Cox Plate winner is Asathought (So You Think {NZ}) who strips hard fit for recent racing.
Dee And Gee (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}) was in winning form over this trip last start whilst El Gladiator (NZ) (Ghibellines) and Mr Intelligence (NZ) (Niagara) were not far behind that horse at Canterbury.
William Wallace (NZ) (Darci Brahma {NZ}) is getting on in years but is still capable.
