Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we will aim to give you something to follow.

On Sunday, we look to build a bank in the opening event at Sale with a talented gelding making his first start in 17 months, and then we up in the following event with a progressive son of Astern. We will wrap up the day in the second event at the Sunshine Coast.

Sale, Race 1, 12.40pm AEDT, Ladbrokes Punter Assist Mdn, $35,000, 1100m

Out Of Isolation (Squamosa) is an interesting runner in the opening event at Sale. The Greg Eurell-trained gelding made his debut in a strong 2-year-old handicap at Caulfield back in May of 2020. He finished a creditable second that day, beaten by 1.25l by Aidensfield (Dissident), who has subsequently placed in the G2 Tristarc S., Listed Atlantic Jewel S. and Listed Jim Moloney S.

Out Of Isolation is one of two winners from three foals to race out of Sweet Ella (Niello), who is a half-sister to the Listed winner Phantomofthenight (Fraar {USA}).

Dangers (Astern) looks well placed here third-up after putting in a strong showing at Bairnsdale last start. The Shea Eden-trained colt will relish the extra 200 metres on offer and should prove hard to hold out under Zac Spain.

A $95,000 2020 Inglis Ready2Race Sale purchase, Dangers is the first foal out of Lonhro mare Vendanges, who herself is out of the G3 Auraria S. runner-up Vintner (Hennessy {USA}).
