Looking Ahead puts the spotlight on runners of interest across Australia and New Zealand. Whether they are a particularly well-bred or high-priced runner having their first or second start, a promising galloper returning to the track or a horse which has trialled particularly well, we will aim to give you something to follow.
On Tuesday, a well-bred Peter Moody 3-year-old takes our attention on debut at Geelong, while at Newcastle, a Brazen Beau gelding steps out and a daughter of Real Impact (Jpn) makes her first appearance.

Chief Conductor, 3-year-old colt (I Am Invincible x Snitzerland {Snitzel})
Impeccably bred colt Chief Conductor was purchased for $600,000 through the Vinery Stud draft at the 2020 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale by Domeland and makes his debut here for Peter Moody. He has had a couple of jump-outs this time in and looked sharp in winning at his most recent at Pakenham, powering over the top of his rivals to win with ease.
He is bred to be fast, being by I Am Invincible out of G1 Lightning S. winner Snitzerland (Snitzel), who has produced the Group 3 winner Hard Landing (All Too Hard) and the stakes-performed Saas Fee (All Too Hard). The extended family includes Snitzerland's brother, the Kitchwin Hills stallion Sooboog. Among the eight winners by I Am Invincible out of Snitzel mares are Listed winner Supreme Idea.

Prefect Match, 3-year-old gelding, (Brazen Beau x Beauty Kit {Tale Of The Cat {USA}})
The unraced Tale Of The Cat (USA) mare Beauty Kit has already produced four winners, including the G3 Ottawa S. winner Concealer (Nicconi), and Prefect Match, her most expensive yearling yet to go through a sale, is set for his debut for Gary Moore. The son of Brazen Beau cost Viribright Racing $400,000 through the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
He finished off nicely behind more experienced stablemate Harapan (Dissident) in a recent Rosehill trial and while he was pushed out, he should take improvement from that hitout. Moore, who won the G1 Winterbottom S. this week five years ago with Takedown (Stratum), has a good record at Newcastle of late.

Angelical, 3-year-old filly, (Real Impact {Jpn} x Swift Angel {Lonhro})
The progeny of Real Impact (Jpn) were put in the spotlight with Count De Rupee winning the $1 million The Gong last Saturday and this filly, bred by her sire's former Australian base, Arrowfield, who retained her, takes the eye on debut for Paul Messara.
She couldn’t find a buyer when she went through the ring at the Inglis Classic Sale in 2020 but she looks to have a degree of talent based on her recent trial win at Scone under jockey Aaron Bullock, who keeps the ride here.
Her dam, Swift Angel (Lonhro) is a winning half-sister to Group 2 winner Text 'N' Hurley (Hard Spun {USA}) and a granddaughter of the multiple stakes winner and Group 1 placegetter Excited Angel (Don’t Say Halo {USA}).

Looking Back
It was a consistent trio of performances from the Looking Ahead horses on Sunday, with Pioneer River (Snitzel) running second at Kilmore, while Game To Love (I Am Invincible) ran a creditable third on debut at the same track and Jutland (Dundeel {NZ}) ran fifth at Taree.
