With the first Southern Hemisphere yearlings by Justify (USA) set to light up Australasian sale rings in early 2022, Coolmore Australia has attached an astonishing incentive to that eagerly anticipated debut crop.

Coolmore will present a brand-new Ferrari to the connections of the first of Justify’s progeny to win one of 16 selected qualifying races in either the 2022/23 or 2023/24 racing season.

Tom Magnier, principal of Coolmore Australia, was excited to announce the ground-breaking initiative on Saturday afternoon.

Ferrari with Justify (USA)

“In the past, other farms have offered cash bonuses as incentives for various first-crop sires,” he said. “However, with a stallion as special as Justify, we thought it was appropriate to reward the owners of the first Group 1-winning Justify with a Ferrari.

“Ferraris and Justify have so much in common. They are both fast, red, powerful and incredibly stunning, and given the quality of his stock that we have seen, we’re convinced that we will be giving one away.”

An undefeated winner of the fabled Triple Crown of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness S. and Belmont S. in 2018, Justify has shuttled to Coolmore Australia since 2019 and has been supported with strong books of mares throughout his first three Australian seasons.

“Justify is the only US Triple Crown winner to ever retire undefeated and is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary horses to shuttle to Australia,” Magnier said.

“Ever since it was announced that he was shuttling, he has been met with an incredible response by Australasian breeders, and he covered an unbelievable book of mares in his first season.

“We could not be happier with the quality of the Justify stock that we have at Coolmore, and reports from all of our clients with Justify yearlings to sell and race has been overwhelmingly complimentary. We couldn’t be more confident about Justify leaving his mark on the Australian breeding landscape in the future, and we are so excited by what is to come.”

Justify has stood for a service fee of $55,000 (inc GST) in the 2021 Australian breeding season, and his first crop of Southern Hemisphere weanlings sold for up to $300,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale earlier this year.

There are 26 yearlings by Justify in the catalogue for the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale next month, followed by six in the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February.
