G3 BJ McLachlan S., $250,000, 1200m
The exciting Magic Millions-bound Coolongatta (Written Tycoon) is a short-priced favourite on the back of her dominant victory in the G3 Gimcrack S. in early October - she impressed taking out a recent Randwick trial beating the older horses.
Likely leader Palazzo Spirit (Spirit Of Boom) has never been in any doubt winning his first two; this test his first at the 1200 metres. By the same sire is Hattusa who is one of the maidens displaying talent - Thelwell (Bel Esprit) and Swiss Exile (Pariah) who has trialled very well being in the same boat.
Adding interest is the New Zealander Bright Blue Sky (Fastnet Rock) who was close up in a Rosehill trial having won at Listed level at her Te Rapa debut last month. She certainly has the breeding being a member of the prolific My Tricia (NZ) (Hermes {GB}) family.
Listed Bernborough Plate, $200,000, 1600m
Two of the favoured runners here have already won this race - Niccanova (Nicconi) (who looks nicely primed having improved at each of his three runs this time in) successful two years ago whilst The Harrovian (Fastnet Rock) took this out last year (defeating Niccanova) and was solid finishing in the thick of things when resuming.
Ballistic Boy (Smart Missile) was good to the line fresh and is a four-time winner over this longer trip noting that the consistent Ligulate (Domesday) also likes the mile as does Kubrick (Shooting To Win) who is in good form.
Reloaded (Snitzel) blew the start in The Gong and is capable of better as is Wheelhouse (Pierro) who had to do a bit of work under a big weight last time out.
Listed Falvelon S., $200,000, 1200m
Roheryn (Lonhro) and The Odyssey (Better Than Ready) were one/two in this race last year and can once again figure in the thick of things - the former drawing a better gate than when he did ending up too far back in The Hunter whilst the latter was good fresh.
Zoustyle (Zoustar) is clearly the one to beat having been so impressive winning his last three whilst Baller (High Chaparral {Ire}) will be attempting to turn the tables having been a game second to him last time out.
South Australian visitor Beau Rossa (Unencumbered) boasts excellent fresh form and has trialled well whilst Hard Empire (Hard Spun {USA}) has the benefit of a run under his belt - good to the line in a G3 George Moore S. not really run to suit.
Southern Lad (Ocean Park {NZ}) and Desert Lord (High Chaparral {Ire}) both had excuses last time out and both are in good form.
