In the build up to the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, we have picked out three yearlings who have had substantial pedigree updates in the past couple of months.
A three-quarter sister to a recent Group 3 winner headlines our selections, while a Brazen Beau half-sister to a recent Hong Kong winner also features as does a Shalaa (Ire) colt from a fabulously successful family.
Lot 42 - Zoustar x Faustine (Snitzel), filly - On account of Widden Stud
This filly is a three-quarter sister to the smart and fast stakes winner Zoustyle (Zoustar), who further added to his resume with wins at the Sunshine Coast and then in the G3 George Moore S. at Doomben last month. Lot 42's dam, Faustine (Snitzel), is a half-sister to Zoustyle, and was a winner at 1500 metres.
The pedigree is an interesting one, with a 3 x 3 cross to Redoute's Choice, but on the dam's side it goes back to Germany, through her stakes-placed grandam Fashion (Ger) (Anabaa {USA}). Her dam is the Listed winner Felina (Ger) (Acatenango {Ger}), who is the dam of Group 3 winner Felicity (Ger) (Inchinor {GB}) and grandam of Felician (Ger) (Motivator {GB)) and Fly First (GB) (Big Shuffle {USA}), who were both stakes winners in Europe.

Lot 106 - Brazen Beau x Heredera (Northern Meteor), filly - On account of Emirates Park
Success in Hong Kong can be a huge fillip for the global appeal of any family and the recent dual Sha Tin victories of the David Hayes-trained Lucky With You (Artie Schiller {USA}), a half-brother to Lot 106, is certainly timely ahead of her auction on Tuesday. He looks a very progressive horse and is the only foal to race from Heredera, who is a half-sister to Group 2 winner and Group 1 placegetter Kabayan (Haradasun).
This filly's grandam, Tarlaquena (NZ) (Don Eduardo {NZ}), is a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner and stallion Prized Icon and Group 3 winners Matras (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}) and Romantic Moon (More Than Ready {USA}). Another half-brother, Proximate Cause (More Than Ready {USA}), has been in great recent form in North Queensland, winning two races at Townsville and one at Mackay late last year.

Lot 772 - Shalaa (Ire) x Bahja (Zabeel {NZ}), colt - On account of Grandview
As a grandson of influential Asawir (Last Tycoon {Ire}), the half-sister to Snippets, whose descendants include 10 stakes winners, featuring Group 1 winners Rewaaya (NZ) (Singspiel {Ire}), Sense Of Occasion (Street Sense {USA}) and Ertijaal (Hard Spun {USA}), this colt is already well-placed from a pedigree perspective.
It is a family that has kept lending support to this colt's pedigree ahead of this Sale. Ghumaama (Medaglia D'Oro {USA}), who is out of his Listed-winning half-sister Moqla (Exceed And Excel), was a recent winner at Werribee, while two further family members by Sepoy, Hidden Eyes and Waqqas, have been winners at the Sunshine Coast and Vaal respectively. The ill-fated Naboo Attack (Warhead). who was recently placed in a Group 2 sprint in Hong Kong, is also on the page.
