Listed Durbridge S., $107,250, 1100m
Twelve months ago Behemoth (All Too Hard) was too strong for Kemalpasa (Magnus) in this race - this time around the latter was able to turn the tables, in doing so recording the 13th win of his 37-start career.
Another five of those wins have come at stakes level including this same race in 2019.
Bred in Tasmania by the Watson family, Kemalpasa is one of the 25 stakes winners sired by his reliable Widden Victoria-based sire - winner of the G1 The Galaxy.
Purchased by trainer Richard Jolly for $140,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Kemalpasa is the first foal produced by the lightly raced Yarra Bank (Bianconi {USA}), a Geelong 1720-metre winner from seven starts.
Served last year by Bivouac (Exceed And Excel) having slipped in the previous season, Yarra Bank has a yet to be named 3-year-old full brother to Kemalpasa whilst her second foal Nordic Prince (also by Magnus) has raced just the once.
Yarra Bank is a full sister to the stakes-placed Pacino and a half-sister to the Listed Heathcote H. winner Honest Politician (Distorted Humor {USA}) and the stakes-placed gallopers Ipioga (Niello) and It's You (Celtic Swing {GB}).
The latter has done a good job at stud, her seven winners including the Listed Northern Guineas Prelude winner Yourein (Reset) and the stakes-placed Off The Rails (Snitzel).
